Baby Saga

Episode #1

(Aired 2/07/96)

Nazo no DB Shuugen!! Gokuu wa kodomo ni!?
The mysterious Dragonballs appear!! Gokuu becomes a child!?

Gokuu and Uubu are in Kami-sama's palace, training and smashing away at each other. Around 10 years have passed since the end of Dragon Ball Z, and Uubu looks to be a very strong teenager now. The damage to the Palace is enormous, and Mr. Popo and Dende are getting nervous over it.
Meanwhile Pilaf, Shuu and Mai (all three of them looking really old now) are in a set of robots, climbing the outside of the Palace. When they get inside, they eventually locate all seven Dragon Balls (lying in a skeleton-filled urn.) These are the Ultimate Dragon Balls, created by the the Namek child that had come to Earth long ago. After making the Ultimate Dragon Balls, the Namek child purified himself to become Kami-sama. The concentrated evil turned into the Great Demon King Piccolo. The Ultimate Dragon Balls (also called the Black Star Dragon Balls) is rumored to be better than Kami-sama's set.
Eventually, Uubu and Gokuu finish their training, step out into the open, and collapse. Dende and Mr. Popo heal them. Everyone trades greetings and words of thanks. Uubu and Gokuu promise to get together a year later to fight again. Then, Uubu flies off to return to his own life.
Before Pilaf can summon Shenlon, Shuu is overcome with emotion at getting this far for the first time, and Mai reminds them that this is about the point where they always get interrupted. Pilaf hopes to avoid all interruptions this time. Pilaf is again dreaming of world domination, and he summons Shenlon. The Ultimate Shenlon is yellow, and REALLY big. Meanwhile, Gokuu empties Dende's larder; still hungry, he wanders the Palace and notices that the sky has suddenly turned dark.
Confused, Gokuu tries to find out what's going on, and happens upon Pilaf. Gokuu is surprised to see Pilaf after so many decades, and he marvels over this. Pilaf rages that Gokuu is so big now, and he orders his robots to launch missiles at Gokuu. Gokuu easily catches the missiles, and Pilaf insanely wishes that Gokuu was small again, and therefore easier to defeat.
Shenlon says "So be it", and Gokuu is turned into a child once more.
Shenlon claims that the wish has been fulfilled, and all 7 Balls fly off in separate directions. Dende and Mr. Popo arrive, and are shocked to see Gokuu transformed.

[Commercial Break]

Kaiou-sama telepathically tells Dende and crew that only the Ultimate Dragon Balls can be used to reverse the wish, and the Balls have been scattered across the galaxy. Gokuu is taking being a kid in stride, and since there's nothing else that he can do at this point, he decides to fly down to Earth to get something more to eat. In Satan City, Pan (who is now a young girl, and dressed like a "slacker" version of Beederu) and a potential boyfriend are wandering the streets. Pan wants to go to a movie, and the boyfriend wants to keep pressing against her. Meanwhile Kamesennin has hit the city as well, and is trying to track down Pan (he makes sure that he bumps into the tushes of every pretty woman along the way).
However, there is a hostage situation at a bank near the theater, and the police have cordoned off the area. The bad guys have fun shooting up cars and terrorizing the police. The police had decided to send in a disguised police woman to give the villains meals spiked with knockout drops. Unfortunately, the villains expected this, and they feed the food to a hostage cop -- the cop passes out. The villains continue to blow up the city. The resulting shockwaves disturb Gokuu's meal at a nearby Chinese restaurant. He comes out to see what is wrong.
Gokuu anticipates being able to beat up baddies, but is thwarted by Pan, who tells the little boy to not get in the way. Pan beats the snot out of the bad guys as Gokuu watches. The potential boyfriend becomes scared of Pan's prowess, and runs away (not the first time this has happened, either.) Then, Kamesennin arrives and both children yell out his name. Kamesennin quickly believes that this is a weird little Gokuu, but Pan thinks that there is something wrong here. (It's been a long time since anyone's seen Gokuu, or since he's seen any of them.)
The group goes to Gokuu's house, and everyone speculates over whether the original Dragon Balls can restore Gokuu, until Kaiou-sama calls in to mention a problem he'd missed before. It seems that the Ultimate Dragon Balls are MUCH stronger than any of the other Earth sets. Having been used, the Ultimate Dragon Balls put a lot of stress on the planet. They must be gathered together again within one year, or the Earth will explode. Everyone is shocked at this.
And so, Gokuu's new adventure begins.

NOTE: the new opening credit song is standard Japanese pop, and seems to be aimed more towards the fans of magical girls shows. This might be one sign that the producers are shifting the show away from the traditional DB audience.

Episode #2
(Aired 2/14/96)

Shuyaku wa watashi! Pan uchuu ni tobitatsu!!
I am the Leader! Pan Flies into Space!!

The episode starts with a straight-laced Future Trucks being escorted to his office as president of Capsule Corp. However, he can't stand the attention from his staff, or the pressures of a desk job, and he manages to escape out a window (again.) Meanwhile, Pan is interrupting Goten's phone call to a new girlfriend.
The rest of the family is upset at the idea of Gokuu going off to face danger alone, so Gohan volunteers to go with. Pan wants to join them, but Chi Chi tries to scare the girl off with ghost stories. (The key to the events that follow is -- Gokuu likes being a kid again, while Pan is desperately trying to be accepted as an adult. Pan is disgusted with her grandfather's behavior, and refuses to take orders from him. Pan will constantly take on the role of "parent" from this point on.)
At Capsule Corp., Bulma comments on the fact that her space ship is not all that big -- it can only hold three people. Outside, a thug is watching the building, waiting for some girl to step out where he can grab her. Vejiita, now sporting more of an "old punk" look, with a flat top and a mustache, is dismissed by the thug's partner as being a lousy kidnap victim. The rest of the heroes work on prepping the ship; all except Pan, who is rebuffed by all of them. Frustrated, Pan kicks the wall of the ship, damaging one of the engines (she covers the dent with a parts cart.) Pan leaves, but can't avoid being tailed by a bored Gokuu. Ultimately, Pan flies off just as the thug leaps forward. Gokuu gets kidnapped.

[Commercial Break]

At Mr. Satan's martial arts school, Satan is watching in horror as Pan trashes his entire class. The girl wants to keep fighting, but Satan is the only fighter left, and he claims to have a cold.
Elsewhere, Gokuu is being fed lots of food, as the first thug tries to get his friend to use the boy in their fiendish plot (the meal comes to 700,000 zenni.) The second thug calls Capsule Corp., and tries to talk Bulma into paying a ransom. Unfortunately, the thug's phone card runs out first. Bulma wonders why Gokuu keeps getting into weird situations.) Pan and Satan go to a cafe, where the girl complains about always being treated as a child, while she tries drink black coffee (she hates the taste) and Satan chows down on a parfait. Satan TRIES to build up Pan's feelings, but succumbs to the need to hug his "cute little grand daughter".
The two thugs keep trying to ransom Gokuu, but the next phone call is to Vejiita. Vejiita tells them to do what they want to the boy. At the end of the day, the thugs are disheartened, and Gokuu wants to go back home. The second thug wants to make one more phone call. They stop in an area devoid of phone booths, so Gokuu flies off to get a phone for them. Thug 2 finally believes Thug 1's claim that Pan had flown away from him that morning. When Gokuu returns with the booth, the thugs drive away in terror.
Later, Trunks is again escaping from his office, when he is interrupted by Vejiita. Vejiita now knows about Gokuu's planned space trip, and he wants Goten and Trunks to go along with, for the experience. (Bulma can take care of Capsule Corp. on her own, and Goten's date is beneath notice.)
It's now time for the big launch. Trunks and Gokuu enter the ship, but Goten receives a call from his girlfriend and he stands outside to talk on his cellular phone. Beederu asks Gohan when Pan is, and Gohan answers "with Bra." But, Bra is standing next to Vejiita (Bra is quite a knock-out), and Pan is nowhere in sight. Inside the ship, Pan is waiting for Gokuu and Trunks to enter. She presses the ignition switch -- the ship leaps into space. Goten is left behind, to meet his date.
And, a loose component falls from the ship and lands by Bulma's feet.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: the two kidnappers look somewhat like the villians in the movie "Home Alone". It's possible that this was deliberate.

Episode #3
(Aired 2/21/96)

Chou Gametsui!! Shounin no Wakusei Imegga
The Ultimate Moneygrubbers!! Imegga, Planet of Merchants

Life in the ship is pretty rough for Trunks, who wants to get the main control key from Pan so that they can return to Earth. Pan counters by dropping the key down her shirt. Trunks gives up. On Earth, Chichi is hoping that Gokuu and company are doing ok, after having spent one week in space already. Bulma is studying with her computers, but she can't figure out what the loose component was. Pan is also bossing the other two around, assigning housekeeping chores to them. Trunks isn't so upset about this, as he is about Pan calling him "Trunks", instead of "Trunks-san".
Suddenly, the ship lurches, and one of the engines floats off. Trunks goes into shock. Bulma's computers match up the loose part as a stabilizer component -- her glee turns to horror. She hopes that the trio will be ok. The ship is suffering from severe backfire, and Trunks tells the two kids to strap in. Pan doesn't want to die until she can at least have her first real date (and hell with the Dragon Balls). They reach a planet, and Trunks takes them down for a rough landing.
The heroes reach a nearby market town, and are quickly overwhelmed by merchants that tell them how good they look in various silly costumes. Trunks says that they are only interested in space ship parts, and merchants whip out loose ship components. All of the bills are presented, and the trio has tomorrow to pay them off.

[Commercial Break]

The trio cautiously enter a hotel, fearful of finding more merchants. They get a room, while complaining of the prices of their trinkets. The concierge assures them that he is not as money grubbing. A robot bellboy treats Gokuu as luggage, and takes them to their room. It is a really impressive room, with lots of comfortable furniture and food. All of which is really expensive and is being added to their tab (the bellrobot won't release Gokuu until getting a tip.) Trunks watches TV
(charged to the room) -- the news broadcast introduces the leader of Planet Imegga -- Don Kia (a blank-faced dweeb with lots of make-up).
The trio escape the room (Trunks has to break the chain holding him to the bed) and find themselves out in the rain a night. Pan complains about this horrible planet, and she wants to return to Earth. She falls through a paper-thin wall, into the apartment of a poor Imeggan family. The family is what is known in Japan as "the honest poor" -- moneyless, but still happy in having their own integrity. The Imeggans explain that people here are so money hungry because of Don Kia.
Then, the rent police arrive. This Imeggan family is behind on their rent to Don Kia, so the robots of the rent police dismantle the apartment and take the last of the furniture. Gokuu volunteers to fight the robots, but the Imeggans dismiss him as being just a child; they are afraid of the might of Don Kia's soldiers. With no reason to fight the robots, the trio wait until morning and return to the village. They are willing to let the poor Imeggan family suffer under the rules set by other Imeggans.
Pan wonders if this planet has a Dragon Ball. Trunks pulls out the Dragon Radar, and is so surprised at hearing a strange voice that he drops it. The Radar lands next to a small robot (the one appearing in the eye catches) that keeps saying "energy". The robot eats the Radar, and becomes more lively. It calls out "the energy has returned", and refuses to return the Radar because it is getting energy from the device. Nearby, a salvage team starts towing away the Earth spaceship, which acts as a distraction that allows the robot to escape. Gokuu catches the robot, but their spaceship disappears on the horizon.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: "Gametsui" is a slang term that was made popular in a movie a few years ago. It was applied to the people of Osaka, as being very greedy (but also diligent and hardworking in their greed.) The monetary unit on this planet is the Gametsu, and the symbol for it is kind of a backwards "F".

Right after W.W.II, most Japanese were poor and devastated. With lots of hard work, they made their country rich again. However, there is still a reverence towards people that can survive with little to no money. This is called "honest poverty", which is the opposite of "artificial/shallow rich people." The Imeggans embrace both qualities, which makes them "very Japanese".

The names for the new characters are still tentative, since they have not appeared in print in romaji yet. Their status is:
Hokiro -- The robot calls out "Hokiro sanjou", which I first took to mean "Hokiro is here." But, on further inspection, it just seems to be the robot's way of saying that it has an energy supplement again.
Don Kia -- This is what it sounds like. I'm not sure where the compilers of the other set of summaries came up with spelling Donquia.
Rejjik -- This is how it is spelled in the title for episode 5 (in katakana), and also how it is pronounced. I'm not sure why my rivals have chosen "Reddick".

Episode #4
(Aired 2/28/96)

Uontedo!! Gokuu ga shimeite hai!?
Wanted!! Gokuu is a criminal!? (See note below)

Pan and Trunks intend on following after the truck, but Gokuu suggests that they teleport instead. The robot tries to sneak away, but while it has the Dragon Radar, Pan won't let it out of her sight -- she ties it up and stuffs it in her pack (which Trunks gets to carry.) However, after a couple of painful attempts at teleporting (the trio only goes a few feet forward and 30 feet down) they discover that Gokuu has lost the ability to teleport (probably because he's a child again).
In his palace, Don Kia is interrupted during his pudding break by two minions -- they've found a strange spaceship, which is being analyzed as they speak. Don Kia, though, only cares for fast money, and orders the ship to be sold for scrap. That night, the trio infiltrate the research center where the ship is being held. Pan expects it to be located in a hard-to-find place, but Gokuu spots it out in the middle of a courtyard. (Pan is annoyed that Gokuu showed her up like that.) They close in, past all of the guards, but make several silly slip-ups (for comic effect). The ship is in an open area, well-lit. Gokuu volunteers to fight it out with the guards, and Pan dismisses him. Finally, a guard throws a coke can into the darkness, hitting Pan in the head. Pan breaks down, but Gokuu and Trunks keep her from crying out loud. A rock hits Trunks on the head, and he lands backwards atop of the robot. It complains and the guards are alerted.

[Commercial Break]

The shooting begins. Gokuu wonders why Pan wants to fight now, when she wouldn't let him do it before. She answers that they have to judge things "case-by-case." Gokuu hears it as "cake on cake" and wants to eat again. The good guys easily trash the baddies. Gokuu frees the ship from it's skyhook, down onto a flatbed hovercraft. Pan takes the hovercraft's wheel. Don Kia's two minions show up (one is called something like "Kiru-sama") Pan can brake, but she can't drive worth beans. Many statues of Don Kia get destroyed. The two minions are waiting on the road for the hovercraft, and they use a twin energy ball attack -- which is defeated by Gokuu's counterattack. Gokuu's energy ball arcs up along one building, and is easily batted away by a weird leopard man. The leopard and Gokuu spot each other, and the new villain thinks that the boy may be a Saiya-jin. The trio escape with the ship.
Back in his palace, Don Kia is chewing out the two minions for losing the money that the ship represents. He goes too far in handing out his insults, and Rejjik (the weird leopard) speaks up. Don Kia immediately falls over himself in sucking up to Rejjik. (The two minions are charged several million Gametsu as a result of their bungling.) Fortunately, the trio had been caught on camera, and the villains wonder what it is that the aliens wanted. Don Kia, at least, doesn't think that the trio will escape very easily.
The next day, Trunks works on the ship, then they go into town to get food for all of them. When they arrive, the townsfolk panic and bolt, revealing all of the ugly "wanted" posters on the walls. Pan is upset at being portrayed this way, but Gokuu finds it fun. Then the police arrive, and are easily evaded.
At night, it rains again; which irritates Pan. All of them suffer from hunger pangs. The robot starts sounding off, causing Pan to hit it in the backpack. However, Trunks notices that the robot is acting like a giant Dragon Radar, and he runs off to see if there is a Dragon Ball nearby. Soon after, the police arrive again, trapping the trio inside a poor section of town.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: the title is redundant. Literally, it is "Wanted!! Gokuu is designated as wanted!?" An alternative title could be "Gokuu has a bounty on his head!?"

The names for the new characters are still tentative, since they have not appeared in print in romaji yet. The new name status is:
Kiru -- This seems to be the name of the little red dwarf that works for Don Kia.
Geal -- The Female minion that works with Kiru (she is named in episode 5.) It is pronounced "Gail".

Episode #5
(Aired 3/6/96)

Tsuyoi yatsu mikke!! Youjinbou Rejjik
See, the Strong Guy!! The Bodyguard Rejjik

The local police search the city, overlooking the trio hiding behind the giant wanted posters. While they are waffling over their next steps, a local female leaves her apartment, and finds them. Gokuu states that while they are wanted criminals, they're really not bad folks. Pan tries to do spin control, but the female screams and bolts, alerting the police. The trio run away, leaping over buildings. Don Kia's two minions lay an ambush, while Kiru (the little red dwarf minion) wants the criminals alive, to exact revenge for the day before. Pan and Trunks easily leap over the street where Kiru is waiting, but Gokuu stumbles, falls towards Kiru, and uses the dwarf's face as a springboard (Kiru's response -- This can't be happening).
A few buildings later, Pan falls through a roof, and she and Trunks land on top of Gokuu. Pan grouses about this hateful planet; Gokuu tells her to get off him, then complains that Pan is fat. They are interrupted by an old couple that recognizes them from the posters. The trio realize that they can't explain their way out of this mess. They apologize and try to leave. The old couple soften up, and state that if the evil Don Kia is against something, that something must by rights be ok. The woman invites them to dinner (over her husband's objections).
The couple hear about the trio's problems, and the woman tells us that Don Kia also arrived on this planet in a ship, along with Rejjik. Pan wonders why the villagers don't fight back, and is told that Rejjik is too strong for them to handle. Gokuu flashes back to last night's fight, and remembers Rejjik's face. The woman apologizes to Gokuu that there is not enough food for seconds. The trio realize that they've just eaten all of the couple's food. This is the last straw for Pan, and she decides to take on Don Kia. The old couple are concerned for their safety, and Pan tells them to not worry because the heroes are so strong.
Soon, the trio walks into the midst of the police. Geal (pronounced "Gail") and Kiru dread another fight, and are stunned when the fugitives peacefully surrender. They are handcuffed and hauled away.
In his office, Don Kia is making love to his money. He is told by intercom that Geal has captured the three fugitives. Don Kia tells the intercom to have them delivered to his office. Suddenly, a guard flies through the door, and the trio burst in. Don Kia asks where Geal is; he finds her on camera -- downstairs, with the rest of the defeated guards.

[Commercial Break]

Pan wants vengeance on Don Kia, but is caught in a cylindrical force field. Don Kia's office contains a hidden arsenal, which he activates and opens fire on Pan. But the assault is interrupted when Rejjik arrives and says that weapons are useless on these guys. Don Kia tries to order Rejjik to attack, but Rejjik doesn't take orders from anyone. He just wants to know how strong the trio really is. Trunks attacks and is easily batted aside. Gokuu confronts Rejjik while telling Trunks to rescue Pan. Rejjik and Gokuu start fighting. There are many energy balls, kicks, and punches. Rejjik uses a semi-magical set of swords (which Gokuu catches and breaks) and a spear (which Gokuu evades only to be batted to the ground.) Don Kia's palace gets demolished along the way.
Gokuu is now getting interested in the battle, and he starts round two by going SSJ-1 (Rejjik discloses that he recognizes Gokuu as being Saiya-jin, but doesn't elaborate.) Gokuu shatters Rejjik's spear, and bashes the bodyguard. They both switch to energy attacks, with Gokuu's Kamehame-ha blowing Rejjik back into the palace.
Gokuu stops fighting, knowing that Rejjik is down for the count. Rejjik disses the brat as being fickle, and Gokuu agrees with the fickle part, but not at being called a child (Rejjik doesn't understand.) Pan is now free, and she and Trunks confront Don Kia. Don Kia grabs his money and tries to bribe Rejjik into rescuing him. Rejjik kicks the dictator away, and tells Gokuu that Rejjik will win their next fight. Gokuu answers back that it won't be him losing in the battle.
Don Kia apologizes, and promises to do anything they want. He balks at being told to stop charging rent, so Gokuu is allowed to smash him up. After much thought, Don Kia acquiesces. The next morning, the trio arrive at the village carrying a HUGE vault containing all of Don Kia's money, and a promise that the villagers will get their planet back.
Then, their ship is ready to launch again, and Gokuu asks Pan how they're going to find the Balls without the Dragon Radar. Pan notices that the robot has escaped again, and she roughs it up a bit. This attracts Trunks' attention, and he takes pity on the almost-human robot. Pan asks Trunks what they're going to do without the Radar. The robot opens a panel in its back to reveal a Dragon Radar screen (confirming what Trunks suspected the previous episode). Now that they can study the screen, they see that the closest Ball is within the Imeggan solar system. Pan is initially excited at being able to continue the adventure. But on the trip out, she and Gokuu fall asleep.

Episode #6
(Aired 3/13/96)

Chotto itee zo!? Gokuu no haisha
It hurts, eh!? Gokuu the dentist

The ship reaches the next planet. Gokuu asks the robot its name, and gets the serial number "DD4649T22006RS" back in reply. It announces that the Dragon Ball is on the planet before them, and Pan threatens to turn it to scrap if it is lying. Trunks brings them in for a landing, but the ship trips on a rock outcropping and they crash down (roughed up but safe.) Trunks apologizes -- this is the first time he's flown a space ship. The ship keeps getting rocked -- the "island" they're on is actually the back of a gigantic turtle. They escape a whole herd of island-sized turtles, and Gokuu leaves the ship on his own; of course, Pan has to do the same.
Everything on this planet is hundreds of times bigger than normal. Gokuu rides the back of a horned beetle, and Pan dresses herself up as a cute insect (Gokuu doesn't see it that way.) Pan is taken by the beauty of a butterfly swarm and flies off with them. Trunks arrives, looking for the Dragon Ball and Pan. Gokuu thinks that the two of them can find the Ball alone. Pan finds a big flower, enjoys the sweet nectar and comfortable "bed", until a swarm of bees swoop down and carry her off.
Trunks finds the Ball in a giant apple orchard, but Gokuu knocks a apple out of the tree and the apple lands on the Ball. A huge bird flies up and makes off with the apple (the Dragon Ball embedded in the side of the apple.) A giant "human" thunders past, the bird drops the apple in the giant's hand, the apple goes into a bag, and the bird settles on the giant's shoulder. Before Trunks and Gokuu can give chase, they hear Pan scream. Gokuu isn't concerned, but Trunks says that they can locate the Ball via the Radar, so they should help Pan first. Gokuu is bemused by this.
The bees return to their hive, and put Pan in the main chamber. Pan complains about this, until she notices the 40+ bee eggs moving around. The baby bees hatch, and are so cute that Pan settles down and starts to enjoy herself.

[Commercial Break]

Trunks finds a giant spider, and what looks like Pan wrapped up in the spider's web. Gokuu gets webbed (he hates the taste) and Trunks kicks the spider to the ground. But, when the webbing is torn open, they find a human-sized queen bee inside. In the hive, worker bees start bringing balls of honey to Pan. At first, she is confused. Then she rebels at the thought of being "mother" to the baby bees. She apologizes to the babies, and leaves the hive. Followed by the entire swarm. Her attempts at evasion fail, and they all fly by the giant "human", who is now catching a massive trout in his arms.
Pan and Gokuu nearly collide; Trunks explains what is happening. The bees return to their hive, with their queen. Gokuu wonders how the bees could be so stupid as to mistake Pan for a queen (ie -- pretty princess).
Pan is surprised that the boys haven't gotten the Dragon Ball yet. And, as Gokuu is playing with the robot, it runs out of power. Hitting on the robot doesn't fix it. Trunks wonders where they'll find an energy source here, and Gokuu's empty stomach prompts him into saying that he also needs "energy". They find the giant -- with the aid of Gokuu's nose -- cooking the fish over a fire. Gokuu is envious. Being so small, the trio needs an arrow so that we can follow them as they walk through the grass towards the pile of food. The arrow approaches the giant as Gokuu tries to get to the huge cooked fish.
They reach the pile of apples, and the Ball is easily seen in the top apple. Gokuu flies to get the Dragon Ball, but one of the giant's pets nudges the apple and it falls to the giant's feet. The giant pops the apple in his mouth and throws away the core. Pan imagines that the giant will have to run to the toilet to pass out the Ball, and she panics. Trunks tries to calm her down by saying that they can look for the other Balls first, then they are interrupted as the giant starts thrashing around in pain.
Gokuu flies up to ask the giant what is wrong, and he sees the Ball jammed inside a cavity on one of the giant's molars. Gokuu flies into the giant's mouth, and tries to keep it propped open long enough to let Trunks in to get the Ball. The giant's teeth close down on Gokuu first, and the boy is trapped inside the giant's mouth. (This scene is fun.) Gokuu resorts to using Kamehame-ha, just as the giant opens his mouth again. The entire molar is knocked into the air and Gokuu escapes. Gokuu comments on how big the cavity is. Eventually, the giant realizes that the pain is gone and he calms down. The trio gets their first Dragon Ball. Gokuu returns the tooth, with an admonition to brush more. They fly back to the ship. The giant waves good-bye to them.
The ship returns to space, and Pan comments on how pretty the Ball is. This is the first time she's ever seen one. Pan congratulates the robot (which is now recharging), and asks it for its help in finding the next one. The robot replies "giro giro" as usual. Gokuu decides to call it "Gill". Trunks and Pan agree to that.

Episode #7
(Aired 3/20/96)

Itoshi no Hanii!? Hanayome wa Torankusu
Beloved Honey!? The Betrothed is Trunks

Pan blows her stack and ties up Gill after it has tried to eat some of the ship's circuit boards (she's looking very menacing with a pair of scissors.) Gill asks Trunks for help, and Trunks wants Pan to settle down. Gokuu, who is eating again, also takes Gill's side. When Pan claims that Gill will eat the entire ship, it chows down on her scissors. Then, they find a beautiful planet that Gill confirms has a Dragon Ball. They set the ship down in a nice countryside setting, and walk until they find a village. At first, it appears empty (Gokuu complains of being hungry again, and Pan complains that he's cleaning out the cupboard). Eventually, they find all the villagers crowded around one house. Trunks asks what's happening and is told "Zuunama".
Gill points out the fact that a woman in the house has a Dragon Ball woven at the end of her ponytail. The trio rush into the house, and verify that it's what they're looking for -- the #6 Ball.) Trunks says that they came a long way from Earth to find it, but the woman's boyfriend -- Doma -- brushes them off angrily, saying that they don't know when Zuunama will be coming back. Gokuu and Pan ask who Zuunama is, and Trunks suggests that the trio should talk to him when he arrives. The villagers look confused.
While Gokuu eats, an elder explains that Zuunama is a horrible monster that had been demanding a lot of food. This time... Gill senses something approaching. It is a giant catfish, with the ability to create earthquakes by going into a dance and wiggling its 2 long whiskers. (Gill runs around in a panic until Pan trips it and tells it to shut up.) Zuunama has come to demand... a woman as a bride. The elder completes his sentence "his daughter is the one chosen to be the bride." At first, Zuunama is happy, but his betrothed doesn't come out; so Zuunama starts a big earthquake. Reenu, the elder's daughter, runs out to demand that Zuunama take her as a bride, and stop the earthquake.

[Commercial Break]

The villagers hold Doma back, while Zuunama accepts her, and says it'll be back for her tomorrow. But, it wants her to look prettier than she does now. Zuunama thunders off, singing about the roars of earthquakes. Reenu faints. That evening, the village women prepare a feast for Zuunama, preventing a starving Gokuu from eating anything. Pan is incensed over the situation with Zuunama, and wants to defeat the monster. Pan tells the villagers that Trunks is Earth's #2 strongest fighter, and the boy hedges, commenting on his dad, Piccolo, et al being stronger. Doma wants to join with, and Pan agrees. The elder gives his blessing.
Pan is impressed with Reenu's wedding dress (which was intended for her marriage to Doma), and she tries to force Gokuu to wear it. Gokuu demands to know why. Pan answers that he's to be a decoy until Zuunama is so drunk that it is helpless when Pan's giant scissors are used to cut its whiskers off. Trunks wonders where the scissors came from. Gokuu and Pan finally realize that Gokuu makes a lousy decoy. So, Trunks is forced to sit through a make-up session (partly because the Dragon Ball has been promised as a reward if they succeed).
The next morning, Trunks sadly poses in costume, glad that his parents aren't there to see him. Doma arrives, ready to head out. A kitchen woman arrives with a container of really strong sake, that Gokuu wants to drink (he can't because he is a kid). Then, Zuunama arrives, singing "here comes the bride". Trunks runs out on the second floor balcony and trips, while Zuunama is angrily looking into the ground floor entrance. It demands that Reenu come out NOW.
Trunks speaks out in his own voice, in woman's language. Pan gets on his case, so he changes pitch and says that he has a cold. Zuunama is cool with this, and tells the "girl" to come closer so it can look "her" over better.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: The artwork is substandard at times in this episode, and the next one. Gokuu's head is often the wrong size, and the star pattern on the Dragon Ball is wrong. The star pattern is corrected in episode 9.

Episode #8
(Aired 4/17/96)

Gokuu mo dokkan!! Ohige pawaa zenkai
Gokuu also Thunders!! The Whiskers' Power is at Full

Trunks is forced to get closer so Zuunama can tell if "she" is prettier than yesterday. Trunks stalls, while Pan hides behind a fake cactus and tells the "bride" to get moving. It looks like the plan will fail, and Gokuu wants to just cut to the combat -- Pan tells him to wait. Turns out that Zuunama LIKES Trunks better than Reenu, and they return to its mountain.
Zuunama comments on Trunks' beard stubble, and has to be told to stop touching "to avoid getting sick". They jump into a pool, and swim in under the mountain to the caves inside. The rescuers lose Trunks and try to figure out what happened. Doma guesses that they went swimming in the pool, and Gokuu strips down to the skin. Pan complains about seeing Gokuu naked, and the boy says that he'd taken a bath with her many times when she was younger. Pan claims that it was different then, and Doma can't understand how the boy can be Pan's grandfather. (Pan drop kicks Gill when the robot's panicking gets too distracting.) Gokuu finds the underwater entrance.
In the cave, Trunks finds a magma pool, and wipes the sweat from his face -- smearing his lipstick. He also loses his wig, as Zuunama is pulling out lingerie for "her". Zuunama decides that "Torairansu" looks even prettier than Reenu. They sit down to eat, and "Torairansu" tries to get the monster to drink the sake as a "toast". Turns out that Zuunama is a teetotaler. So, Trunks has to trick it into looking the other way so he can splash the sake on some fruit. Zuunama eats them all (stuffed into his face by the eager Torairansu.) (This is a funny scene.) Zuunama comments on the strange taste. It quickly gets drunk -- an angry ugly drunk. It wants more fruit, ignoring the fact that it's eaten them all. The other heroes show up in the chamber at this point, and are seen by Zuunama.

[Commercial Break]

Zuunama is pissed at the interruption, and starts bashing everyone. Gokuu eagerly looks forward to the fight, but the monster passes out. Trunks changes out of the dress, saying it's good that Zuunama normally doesn't drink. Doma cuts one whisker, and the kids laugh at Zuunama's weird-looking face. It sneezes, blowing Doma away, and wakes up. It asks why Torairansu has changes clothes -- Trunks answers and adds "I am male". Zuunama discovers its mustache has been cut, and it starts making a huge earthquake. Which quickly ends. Zuunama thinks that the earthquake is still going and asks if the intruders are scared. Pan realizes that Zuunama doesn't create earthquakes -- it only senses when an earthquake is about to happen and takes credit for it. Doma is angry at having been taken in for so long. Zuunama discovers that its fraud has been uncovered and still tries to fake it. But, the lava pool below the cavern explodes, and everyone is forced to run (Zuunama blames its lack of control on the scissors and the sake.) They leap into the pool with the lava close behind.
Gokuu uses an energy bolt to propel him into Zuunama, and hence pushing all of them to the outside world, and to safety. The mountain is threatening to go volcanic, pouring lava down on the village. Gokuu uses Kamehame-ha to blow it out. Instead, he blows it up. Gokuu doesn't really care.
Later, at the ship, Pan gets Reenu's Dragon Ball. Zuunama has been accepted by the villagers as an earthquake early warning system. Suddenly, the Ball floats up out of Pan's hand, and into the hands of one villager. The villager's disguise disappears to reveal a blue-faced alien. The alien flies up to his ship. The alien ship flies away into space.

Episode #9
(Aired 4/24/96)

Shimatta!! Gokuu tobikomu wana no hoshi!?
Damn!! Gokuu Leaps into the Trap Planet!?

The crew piles into the ship, and they chase after the alien. As Trunks wonders who the Ball snatcher is, the alien ship flies away. Inside it, three aliens (all obviously of the same species; see note below) are looking over the Dragon Ball and trying to figure out what the big deal is. The ship's computer detects foreigners following them, and it warps away. After some hesitation, Trunks warps after them. The alien ship has the speed, but Trunks claims to be able to catch them using technique (ignoring the fact that he's still a novice ship pilot.) At first, he barely avoids an asteroid field, then he gets cocky and bounces around like a pinball. (Pan gets angry at him for this.)
The aliens are getting concerned at not losing their tail, and the leader -- Bonpara -- asks the computer for suggestions. It replies that the nearby planet of Beehei would be a good place for a trap, as it is filled with giant worm monsters. Bonpara agrees, and they fly at full power with Trunks in close pursuit. (Lots of recycled animation here.) The aliens enter one tunnel leading into the planet's core, and hide in a cross tunnel as the heroes enter deep into the planet. The alien's computer calculates the humans' odds of surviving at 0.000000112%. Bonpara is pleased at this, and the aliens fly away from Beehei.

[Commercial Break]

On the aliens' home planet, life looks as grim as the landscape. In a large temple, worshippers are chanting a prayer. In front of them is a stage, with a huge stone idol holding a huge urn. On stage, a masked priest demands that the next of his minions step forward and give him a Dragon Ball. The hapless minion couldn't find one anywhere, so the priest uses his whip on the minion's neck to turn him into a small limp doll. The doll is then tossed into the urn. There is a release of energy, which cause the stone idol's eyes to flash, and some gas to bubble up in some kind of filter flask near by. The priest tells the worshippers that "Hakkai ma" Ruudo is pleased with the sacrifice. Then he yells at the worshippers to return to their chanting.
The three Para want to run away, but Bonpara reminds them that they do have the Shadow Dragon Ball. The priest snaps his whip at them, and they approach to hand over the Ball. The priest seems surprised, but says that Donpara, Bonpara, and Sunpara may have done a good job. However, there was a second Dragon Ball that had been with the first DB. He is going to punish them for missing the second Ball, but the Para plead for one more chance. They rush to the ship and demand that the ship take them to the humans.
In Beehei, the heroes are getting frustrated. Pan asks Gill where the Dragon Ball is, and the robot can't find it. Pan thinks that Gill is acting up, but the Radar in its back shows that the Ball is not within the planet. Trunks plans on flying the ship back outside, when Gill announces "danger, danger". They are attacked by giant worms.
The aliens arrive, with no idea as to how to locate the humans. They decide to try a brute force search, and stumble on the giant worms attacking the Earth ship. Gokuu and company exit the ship to fight the worms one-on-one. (Gill strikes a stupid action pose, then hides on Trunks' back.) Donpara and Sunpara are panicking at the continued battle, until Bonpara suggests that while the humans are fighting, they can search the Earth ship for the second Ball.
The heroes use energy attacks on one worm -- to no effect. Gokuu thinks that these worms may be the strongest enemy they've faced so far. And, the Para get into the Earth ship.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: the three aliens all end their sentences with "para" which is similar to Toriyama's demons in the afterworld, who appended "oni" to their sentences. Since the new villains are named "Bonpara", "Donpara", and "Sunpara", I am naming their race the "Para" until I get an official name for them.

Episode #10
(Aired 5/1/96)

Ototte Attakku!? Bonpappa -- !!
Dance Attack!? Boom-shakalaka!!

We get a repeat of the last few minutes of the previous episode. Pan wants to talk, as the first worm lunges at them. There is some fighting, with the worms winning. The Paras can't find the second Ball, and conclude that the humans must have it on them. And, if the the humans die, the Paras will be turned into dolls. On planet Ruudo, the High Priest -- Mochimochi -- is given some prisoners to turn into dolls -- the power from the prisoners is given to Ruudo-sama; the dolls get tossed into the urn, and the liquid level in the filter flask rises a bit. The Paras start cheering for the humans to win.
Eventually, Gokuu tries bareback riding on one worm, and falls down into its hole. This lets Gokuu push the worm up and free of the ground. He trashes the worm. The three heroes now fly into the holes and do much serious hurt on the worms. At last, there is a very big pile of unconscious worms. The Paras applaud them. Bonpara asks if the humans have one more Dragon Ball, and to hand it over. Pan demands the first Ball back. So, the Paras go into a dance pose.

[Commercial Break]

At first, there is a stare-down. The Paras laugh stupidly, then take off their armor, which turns out to be a 3-piece speaker/sound/light system The Paras start dancing. It is catchy enough that after a while, all three humans are forced to dance also (including Gill.) Pan is upset at having to dance to such a horrible routine. There is much recycled animation. Now, with no control over their bodies, the humans get beaten up by Bonpara for not trying hard enough and for making mistakes. The heroes are helpless. The Paras speed up the dance. Gill burns out.
The worms all wake up, and attack Bonpara. With the villains' concentration broken, the music and light show ends, the spell wears off, and the heroes can now promptly kick Bonpara into the ceiling. Pan declares the villains to be scum.
The Paras are tied up. Gokuu eats while Pan, Gill and Trunks search the alien ship for the missing Dragon Ball. Trunks gives up and steps outside. Then, the ship's controls start flashing, gaining Pan's attention. The computer (which sounds just like Akumaku from KO Beast Century) announces that the ship is launching to return to Planet Ruudo now. And, it does so, to Trunks' and Gokuu's horror.

Episode #11
(Aired 5/8/96)

Ruudo no meroi!? Ningyou ni sareta Pan
The Curse of Ruudo!? Pan turns into a Doll

With triumphal music in the background, the Para ship returns to Planet Ruudo. The gravity returns to Ruudo standard. Gill lands on Pan's head. Her anger is short lived, as she tries to get Gill to help her out. Gill just retreats, saying "danger, danger". Pan can't understand the control panel. Instead, she decides that since Gill is a machine, like the ship is, it should just naturally be able to figure out how the ship works, and to tell her what button to press to return to Gokuu and Trunks. The robot points to a button that she depresses -- a trapdoor opens and Pan falls down into the garbage chute.
On Beehei, Gokuu wonders where Pan went, and Trunks demands answers from the Paras. The villains sway and chant "1 - 2, 1 - 2, I don't know." "1 - 2, 1 - 2, I don't know." "1 - 2, 1 - 2, I don't know anything about Planet Ruudo."
On Ruudo, the ship lands and dumps its luggage, and Gill, on top of Pan's head. She tries to figure out where she is, while Gill stuffs its "face" with electronics cables from one box. Nearby, similar ships are lined up in two rows, looking like fungus growing from the rock face. Pan guesses that she's on the villains' planet. Then Gill discovers the location of a Dragon ball. Pan wonders why the Ball would be here, and decides that it must be a souvenir that the 3 space "tourists" brought back here with them. She carries Gill, looking for the souvenir. It takes her to a castle-like pillar. At this point, Gill panics and calls out "danger" repeatedly. The closer they get, the more Gill panics. (The robot pretends to be dead.) Pan wants to know what kind of danger, and is told "the dangerous kind" (Gill switches from saying "chiken" to "abunai".) Pan gives up and flies to the pillar alone.
Once inside, Pan hears chanting. There is a giant door, with a huge lock. Above the door are many smaller, human-sized openings. Inside is a very creepy hallway lined with old cracked statues of Ruudo holding giant urns. Pan is getting freaked out by this, then she reaches the huge cavern with Mochimochi, the current Ruudo statue, and the chanting worshippers. Mochimochi tells the worshippers to keep chanting -- their lives are Ruudo's power.
Pan sees the second Dragon Ball just before two guards discover her.

[Commercial Break]

The Earth ship lands on creepy Planet Ruudo, and Trunks steps out. Gokuu follows with the Paras tied up on a rope. The Paras bite onto the ship with their teeth, refusing to leave the ship. Trunks presses a button on the ship and zaps them. The Paras plead to not be taken to Mochimochi (from now on referred to as M2). Gill flies up and finds them. It says that Pan is in danger.
In the cavern, Pan is trashing guards. M2 notices, and Pan flies to him to berate M2 for behaving so badly and taking the Dragon Ball. M2 introduces himself as the priest of Ruudo-sama, and that he is trying to bring back the dead god. While he is talking, Pan takes the Ball and flies back up above the door. She tries to leave, but a light glows in the statue's eye and hit Pan. She is turned into a doll, and the Dragon Ball bounces back to M2's feet. Pan silently wonders what happened -- why she can't move anymore. M2 is about to put Pan in the urn, wondering where the other Ball is, when an earthquake makes the priest drop Pan on the floor. The quake is caused by Trunks and Gokuu (still dragging the Paras by the end of his rope) flying down through the earth. Gokuu can't find Pan. The Paras claim to have found the Ball, but M2 doesn't buy it. He turns the trio into dolls and throws them into the urn -- the liquid level in the flask increases noticeably. Gokuu calls this "horrible", but M2 says that since this was for Ruudo, it was a "great thing" he did. M2 then demands the second Dragon Ball.
The statue shoots out more light, hitting the worshippers instead. M2 stares in horror, tricking Trunks into looking backwards. M2's whip pulls Trunks to the ground, but the whip can't touch Gokuu. Gokuu tries to punch M2 in the face, and suddenly gets a big gun stuffed up his nose for a point-blank shot to the head (very funny scene.)
Mochimochi calls for the ultimate weapon to be brought out -- a huge blue lion with an orange mane and massively long fangs. Gokuu fires an energy bolt to the ceiling -- the falling rocks land on the lion-mecha and crush it (also a funny scene.) Pan, still lying on her back, silently calls out to be saved. Gill runs towards her, and Pan thinks that it has found her. Except, Gill is running away and it steps on her face. Pan vows to never forget this indignity. Gill stops and turns. It picks her up, recognizing the doll as looking like Pan. Then, the robot is booted away by some mysterious person who picks up the Pan doll.
Mochimochi can't believe that "Lion" was destroyed. Suddenly, there is an explosion and M2 blows up. Gokuu and Trunks are ok. They react to a cackling voice that comments on how the intruders have some skill. M2's whip coils up, and acts alive. It regains its original shape -- that of a yellow serpent demon named "Muchi" ("whip"). Muchi claims to be the True Priest of Ruudo.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: Muchi calls itself "Ruudo-sama no shinkan", or Ruudo's priest. Shinkan translates to "a Shinto Ritualist".
NOTE: this episode really reminds me of several issues of the early Cerebus comic. I expect more parallels later on.

Episode #12
(Aired 5/15/96)

Kami no otsuge wa chou-meiwaku!! Ruudo Kidou
The Oracle of God is REALLY Troublesome!! Soldier Ruudo

Mushi and the heroes are in a stand-off, while the worshippers run away. Mushi's first moves are to snap its whip-arms at the ground near the heroes' feet. Gokuu, based on the last guy they fought, says that he looks forward to fighting Mushi. Mushi snarls that since the pair don't know the extent of its frightening powers, it will demonstrate first -- then it starts whipping the floor again. Rock slabs rise from the ground, as Mushi explains that it is a demon with control over earth. The slabs attack. Gokuu and Trunks run away, barely avoiding the slabs. Trunks wants to know what to do, and the only reaction possible is to smash up the slabs that get too close. They get hit by some slabs, and Trunks uses an energy ball to blow more away. Then, more slabs swoop in to attack, knocking Trunks through a wall and down to a courtyard below. Extra slabs drop down on him, burying him under a pyramid of rock. Trunks catches the slabs on his shoulders, but now he can't move because of the weight.
Gokuu shows up through a doorway, and runs down some stairs to see if Trunks is ok. Mushi snaps the stairs, and they weave, throwing Gokuu to the ground below. Mushi snaps several pairs of swords, which fly at Gokuu, caging him in. Gokuu escapes the cage to attack Mushi, while the demon snaps on a pillar. Two fire pots attached to the pillar join, to make a flying, fire-belching cannon. Gokuu's pants burn, as Mushi commands the cannon to keep attacking. Gokuu grabs one of the swords and destroys the firepots with it. Gokuu challenges Mushi to a direct combat; the demon gets angry and snaps the floor; it grows hands which grab Gokuu's legs. Trapped against the floor, Gokuu gets whipped and kicked, while yelling out "Stop this!" The boy escapes, but Mushi snaps the wall, and a statue reaches out to grab Gokuu again. Pissed off, our
hero goes SSJ; destroying the statue and smashing Mushi to the ground. Mushi can't understand what just happened.
Meanwhile, a monkey-man with long blond hair is in a room, watching the battle via a monitor screen. The monkey strokes the Pan doll in his arms. He comments on Gokuu's energy, which would be good for giving to Ruudo, but Mushi is not strong enough to defeat the boy alone. Then, a messenger enters the room to tell the "Sect's Founder" (the monkey) that some strangers have arrived and killed Moshimoshi. The Founder replies that he wants the worshippers to gather in front of Ruudo, and adds that everything is ok. The messenger leaves, and Pan silently wonders how this wimp could be the Founder of the Ruudo sect. He keeps stroking Pan, and chuckling. He then uses his ring to summon what looks like a silver flashlight.

[Commercial Break]

In front of Ruudo's statue, the worshippers are waiting. Many have been injured, and are bandaged up. They are curious about Doru-takki's coming out to see them (it's been a long time since that last happened). They expect their Founder to make everything all right again. (Note: Doru-Takki translates to "Doll"-Takki. I don't know what "Takki" is supposed to mean. If it was "Tacchi", it would be "Doll Touch".)
Doru-Takki is announced, and the rabble murmurs as their founder appears. He talks very formally. He praises them for their hard work in praying to Ruudo, and says that their God is ready to appear. All that remains is for them to join with Ruudo (all of this is very cryptic.) Doru-Takki then turns on the flashlight and aims it at Ruudo's head. The crowd guesses that they are to be Ruudo's next victims, and are correct. Doru-Takki bids them farewell, as the beams from the statue's eyes turns the panicking worshippers into dolls. The flashlight beam turns from red to green, causing a massive wind to sweep the screaming dolls into Ruudo's giant urn. The liquid level in the collector flask rises, but it is still not enough. Normally. It is sufficient for a surprise attack on the two intruders, allowing Doru-Takki and Pan to slip away and play together. He snuggles against Pan's face, and she panics.
Underneath the pyramid of rocks, Trunks goes SSJ, destroys the rocks with a kick, and then flies off to rescue Gokuu. Gokuu is still SSJ, and is causing Mushi to wonder where this increased power and speed came from. Their battle is more or less equal, until a smash against the rocks causes Gokuu to revert to normal. Mushi chokes the boy, until an energy ball blindsides Mushi and destroys the demon. Trunks asks if Gokuu is ok, and the boy thanks his friend. A TV set is showing all of this from within a girl's playroom, but Doru-Takki ignores it.
This is now "cute Pan's" room, and Pan guesses that this guy is a "Doll Otaku". He claims that Pan is now his #1 favorite doll, and won't be given to Ruudo. The next problem is to decide what clothes to dress her up in. Doru-Takki has difficulty deciding, and finally chooses a light aqua blouse. He struggles to remove her shirt, and Pan silently screams out against this "etchi" behavior. Ultimately, he lifts her shirt up (revealing a flat chest) but is interrupted by an alarm. Ruudo's energy is not enough to make it god-like, but is at least enough for it to move around and fight. Doru-Takki is upset that the boys are disrupting his fun, and wants to use Ruudo to dispose of them -- he apologizes to Pan for the delay.
Gokuu and Trunks reach Ruudo's statue, and wonder where to go to find Pan. Trunks notices a lone doll lying on the ground, as Gokuu finds the Dragon Ball again. Doru-Takki tells them to leave the Dragon Ball alone, and introduces himself. And, for bothering him while he and Pan play together (Gokuu calls out Pan's name, confirming it to Doru-Takki) he will have them killed. He uses the flashlight on the statue, and a green beam makes it wake up. Gill, still lying helpless on the ground, calls out "danger, danger". The energy from the urn beams up, and cracks form across Ruudo's body. Doru-Takki laughs maniacally.

Episode #13
(Aired 5/22/96)

Koitsu ga oyadama!? Nazo no Kagaku-sha Myuu
This is Father and Son? The Riddle of Scientist Myuu

Eventually, Ruudo breaks free of its rock casing -- to reveal a giant yellow robot doll baby (with a stubby tail.) Gokuu laughs at its weird face (old Victorian style, used on porcelain dolls), while Trunks notices its great power level. Ruudo walks forward, showing how tall it is. Doru-Takki wants Ruudo to fight for him, while he and Pan go off to play; Pan complains that she has no intention of playing with him.
Gokuu and Trunks can't get past Ruudo to rescue Pan, and Pan is panicking at being stuck with this pervert doll-loving fanboy. Gokuu tries to anger Ruudo by slapping his butt at the robot. Pan is upset at not having a voice to complain with, and is horrified when Doru-Takki talks for her (
DT: "Pan-chan, how do you like this dress?"
Pan: "It's wonderful! Thank you, Doru-takki-san!"
DT: "No need to be so formal, 'Doru-takki' is ok."
Pan: "Doru-takki."
DT: "Pan-chan."
Pan: "Doru-takki."
DT: "Pan-chan.")

He picks out a china dress for her, but decides that her hair has to be done up properly first (using a toothbrush). Pan hopes to be restored again, so that she can get her revenge for this embarrassment.
Gokuu gets Ruudo to chase him -- right at Trunks. Gokuu gets some altitude and blasts Ruudo in the face; he is surprised to see no damage. He runs away down Ruudo's leg. This is Trunks' chance to get to Pan, except that Ruudo steps on the pillar holding Gokuu, and the boy is catapulted up into Trunks' head. They both fall. Ruudo steps on them.
With Pan's hair fixed up in two buns on the sides of her head, Doru-Takki is ready to put the china dress on her. A voice disturbs them. It is Dr. Myuu, the scientist that created Ruudo, and put Doru-Takki in charge of collecting energy for the robot. Myuu wants to talk to Doru-Takki. At first, Doru-Takki is so formal, kneeling with head bowed, that Pan can not see the monitor screen to see Myuu's face.
Myuu wants to know what the status is on gathering up the Dragon Balls. Myuu complains that they only have one Ball, and Doru-Takki promises a second one soon. Myuu now appears on the screen, looking like a cross between Dr. Gero, and the North Kaiou. (Long flowing red hair, and embedded mirror shades.) Myuu wants the Balls to wish for domination over all of the galaxies (from what I can tell.) Pan objects that this is not what the Dragon Balls were created for.

[Commercial Break]

Myuu wants the second Ball brought to him now, and Doru-Takki says that it'll take a few moments, as Ruudo is currently dealing with 2 interlopers. This makes Myuu wake up, as he demands to know what is happening with Ruudo. Myuu asks if Ruudo has enough energy to reach level 3, and Doru-Takki answers that level 2 is enough to beat the two boys. Myuu is invited to watch Ruudo's progress. Right at this moment, Trunks and Gokuu turn SSJ, and explode from under Ruudo's foot. The robot falls, destroying a pillar and much of the floor. The heroes revert to normal, Doru-Takki panics, Pan congratulates the boys, and Myuu snarls/laughs. Trunks and Gokuu attack again, causing Ruudo to fall again. (Note: Ruudo sounds like a big manhole cover grating against the ground.) Ruudo swivels its head and fires eye bolts, then gets up. Its arms start spinning like two giant airplane propellers. The resulting wind blows out the fires in the temple's urns, and pushes against the heroes. They realize that while Ruudo has great power, it uses that power without understanding it, like a child would.
Myuu chews out Doru-Takki for improperly taking initiative without consulting him first, reminding the otaku of who it was that gave him this position and responsibility. The idea was for Myuu's "child" to grow up to the point where it could play with whole planets, and Doru-Takki screwed up.
Gokuu and Trunks use energy attacks against Ruudo's shoulders, making it lose energy and overheat. The robot drops to its knees, stops rotating its arms, dissipates the heat, and struggles back to its feet. The heroes try again, rapidly bashing the robot from all angles. Pan cheers them on, watching the monitors. Myuu notices Pan stuck in Doru-Takki's belt. Doru-Takki mentions that Pan used to be a girl, a friend of the two intruders. Myuu says that Pan has great energy, and should be sacrificed to Ruudo. Doru-Takki and Pan both panic over this. Doru-Takki objects, and Pan cheers him on. Myuu decides that if Doru-Takki wants to be with Pan so badly, both of them can be given to Ruudo. He hits some buttons on his control panel, and some white beams turn Doru-Takki into a doll. And, a strong wind blows them into the urn. The souls of the two dolls leave their bodies, and enter Ruudo's mouth.
Trunks and Gokuu look in the urn for Pan, and Ruudo blows them out of the way. The liquid in the collector flask reaches the top, and Myuu leans forward in anticipation. Ruudo turns red, with red lights streaming across it.
The narrator comments on Ruudo's change, asks if Gokuu can defeat Ruudo, what will happen to Pan's soul, and asks who Myuu is. Gokuu calls out Pan's name.

Episode #14
(Aired 6/5/96)

Rizumu de Batchiri!? Ruudo Kouryaku!!
Can We Get the Rhythm Down Perfectly!? Capture Ruudo!!

Ruudo is now at full power, red with radiated heat. Lasers shoot from its eyes, blasting through the castle walls and detonating against the surrounding countryside (ala Nausicaa). The heroes are impressed, and Myuu is proud of his "baby". Trunks calls out that they have to rescue Pan quickly.
Inside Ruudo, Pan is having a nightmare -- Doru-Takki is about to kiss her. She wakes up. Floating around her are many other dolls, and she realizes where she is. Doru-Takki floats up, trying to kiss her. She screams and slaps Doru-Takki silly. The noise causes all of the other sacrifices to wake up. Doru-Takki escapes, complaining that this is not his "cute Pan-chan". She says that this is the real her. The Para Brothers also wake up, wondering where they are. Pan continues bashing Doru-Takki for being etchi, and then fires off an energy ball. It ricochets everywhere, and Doru-Takki tells Pan that she should have listened to him when he told her to stop. The energy ball still ends up hitting Doru-Takki in the head. Causing the sacrifices to look his way and recognize him. He is quickly surrounded. He insults them, telling them to not act so rudely to the person that knows how to get to the exit. Pan gets the rabble to settle down and follow her lead (including a little bit of morale-boosting cheerleading.) Outside, Ruudo is getting carried away with its new powers; blowing up the countryside. Doru-Takki is afraid of doing anything that will expose him to Myuu's wrath again. So, he refuses to tell Pan his secret. Pan was expecting this, and she mobilizes the Para Brothers. They go into their dance routine (very silly -- I like it) and quickly have Doru-Takki jumping like a mistreated puppet. He is then asked:
Q: What is your name?
A: Doru-Takki.
Q: (I'm not sure, something like "where are you from?")
A: Doll Planet.
Q: What is Ruudo's weakness?
A: It's heart.

Up above them, is a red glowing ball. Doru-Takki explains that Dr. Myuu spun the structure of Ruudo around this heart when it was created. The heart is probably their only way out.
Suddenly, Gokuu yells in pain, being squeezed in Ruudo's right hand. Pan rushes to Ruudo's chest and looks out through its skin. But she is so small and far away, that Gokuu can't hear her yelling. The only option is for Pan to fire an energy ball at Ruudo' heart. This only screws Ruudo's system up for a moment, but it is enough for Gokuu to escape. Pan comments on this, and Doru-Takki insults her impetuousness -- which gets him pummeled. Doru-Takki explains that Pan can't do it alone; the attack has to also come from the outside at the same time. Pan rushes to Ruudo's skin, trying to get Gokuu to attack Ruudo's heart.

[Commercial Break]

Gokuu can't hear her, so Pan attacks Doru-Takki to find a way to contact the boy. Doru-Takki doesn't know of a way, and Pan starts to give herself a headache as she tries to think. The Paras then tell her that they can do telepathy; she attacks them for not saying this earlier, then pats them on their heads for being so useful. Doru-Takki begs for Pan to rub his head and call him a good child also, for revealing what he knows. Pan doesn't notice the otaku standing behind her, and she bashes him in the chin as she is so happy at having a solution to their problems. Then, she asks if Doru-Takki had said something to her -- Doru-Takki mutters "I thought so, she is frightening." Pan nicely asks the Paras to perform the telepathy, and they pull out old-style radio microphones. In (bad) 3-part harmony, they start announcing that "they understand". (From this point on, the Paras do all of their talking in bad 3-part do-wop. Hilarious.) Pan tells them to quit screwing around and just get to work. They again answer "we understand" in 3-part do-wop.
Outside, Ruudo is using its lasers against Gokuu. The boy avoids them, but almost gets crushed under a huge falling pillar. Gokuu hears the Paras singing in his head, saying that he should attack Ruudo's heart. He doesn't know where that is, so Pan fires a bolt at it, causing it to shine briefly. The Paras tell him to attack that spot. Trunks is avoiding Ruudo's grasp, and he asks what to do. Gokuu yells out to shoot for the heart. But, as Trunks is taking this in, Ruudo hits him point blank with its mouth cannon. The blast destroys the castle. Trunks is immobilized, propped up against some rubble. Leaving Gokuu to fight alone. His blast hits Ruudo in the correct spot, but has no effect. Ruudo responds with eye lasers that Gokuu barely evades. The Paras call out that it was Pan's fault for not attacking simultaneously with Gokuu. They try again, but Gokuu's blast hits first. Doru-Takki berates them for their timing, and Pan knows what the problem is. She tells the Paras that this time she'll count to three. Gokuu doesn't like this arrangement, because he can't count in English. So, on 'three', Pan fires, and Gokuu is slow. They try again, and Gokuu fires on 'two'.
Ruudo attacks Gokuu with eye blasts, the Paras do-wop insults at him, and Ruudo fires another mouth blast. Gokuu gives up on this counting business and suggests an alternative -- "Katsudon", "tendon", "oyakudon". The Paras don't understand this counting system, and Pan can't believe that Gokuu is still thinking about food (all three words are names for dishes served in a bowl.) But, Pan doesn't care anymore what they do, as long as it works. ALL of the sacrifices call out "katsudon", "tendon", oyakudon". Pan and Gokuu fire -- and their attacks hit Ruudo's heart dead-on. The heart explodes, Ruudo's eyes go crazy, and the robot falls apart. The head shuts down, and all of the souls of the sacrifices return to their bodies in the urn. Which causes them to all return to normal, scattered across the ruins.
Pan runs to Gokuu, they embrace, and Gokuu shows that he has the #6 Dragon Ball. Gill becomes functional again and runs up, but is kicked away by Pan for being too slow. Pan wonders where Doru-Takki is. The pervert flies by in a one-man flier, and disappears up among the clouds.

Episode #15
(Aired 6/12/96)

Mou Gure te yaru!! Pan no iede!?
"I Can't Take Anymore!!" Pan Runs Away!?

The ship is flying through space again, and Pan is wondering if her current recipe needs more spice. Gill samples it, and lists off stuff that it thinks should be added to the food. Pan is upset at the criticism coming from a robot, while Gill claims that it wants to make Pan's food more delicious. Pan attacks the robot for implying that her food tastes bad. Gokuu finds this all very entertaining, and is chewed out by Trunks for forgetting their mission to save Earth. Trunks continues, saying that since they have to go up against Dr. Myuu, it would have been better if Goten had come instead of Pan. Pan overhears this and demands to know Gokuu's opinion. Gokuu doesn't care either way, and Trunks tries to cover over his error. But, Pan doesn't know how to handle this situation, and runs upstairs, crying. Gill follows her.
Looking out at the starry darkness, Pan is still crying. Gill holds out a handkerchief, commenting on the tears. Pan angrily denies that she is crying, but eventually returns to her despair without hitting the robot. Gill is confused by this. Later, Gill senses a Dragon Ball on a nearby planet. The ship heads for the new planet. Then, the crew stands on the surface of the desert planet, trying to look hip in their sunglasses. They quickly succumb to the intense heat and return inside the ship.
A giant sand centipede attacks the ship, spitting a ton of sand that hits Pan full in the face. The centipede squeezes the ship before being chased off by Gokuu and Trunks. Later, as Trunks is ironing out the wrinkles from the ship, he has Gokuu act as look out. The water lines have been damaged, and when Pan tries to help, she is told by Gokuu to stop bothering Trunks. This is the last straw; Pan enters the ship, packs up some belongings and a canteen of water. She says that she hates Gokuu and Trunks, then flies away into the desert. Only Gill notices this, and becomes concerned for her.
But, it is too hot for flying, so Pan sets down and switches to walking. When she stops for a drink of water, her parasol blows away. She runs after it, and falls down a sand dune, losing some of her water. Gill decides to fly after Pan -- Trunks and Gokuu ask the robot where it is going, but don't understand the answer ("after Pan".) Eventually, Pan runs out of water, decides that she can't go any farther, and discovers that she is lost. Gill switches from flying to walking also, and disturbs a giant sand centipede. The robot evades the danger, but calculates that Pan is very likely to run into her own centipede very soon. Pan collapses to the ground just as a centipede raises its head and approaches her.

[Commercial Break]

Doru-takkii arrives on Dr. Myuu's planet. He is rehearsing his speech as he walks towards Myuu's office. However, his sweet praises of Ruudo's abilities fall instead on the ears of Shogun Gilldo. (Gilldo is a big, hulking kind of guy, who later turns out to be a "Machine Mutant".) Doru wants to know where Dr. Myuu is, and is told that Myuu is not on the planet. Doru tries to turn to leave, but discovers that Myuu did leave a message for him -- "Die." Gilldo fires off an energy bolt that hits Doru-takkii in the head and kills him. Gilldo immediately contacts Myuu, and asks for his next assignment. Myuu shows images of Gokuu and Trunks, demanding that the pair be brought to him so that the doctor can use their power in his experiments.
Back on the desert planet, Gill succumbs to the heat and falls into a sand dune. It perks up on discovering Pan's abandoned canteen. But, after dragging the canteen for a mile or so, Gill realizes that it doesn't know where Pan is. At the ship, Gokuu is trashing a sand centipede, and Trunks tells the boy to be more gentle (the battle is disturbing Trunk's repair work.) Gokuu thinks that trashing centipedes is fun, and asks Pan to join him. Finally, Gokuu notices that Pan is missing.
Pan's limp body is sliding down a sand dune into the waiting maw of a centipede. She recovers enough to evade the monster, but is too weak to fight well (this is similar to what happens to Gokuu when he becomes famished.) Pan is about to be devoured, and she asks Trunks and Gokuu to save her. Instead, Gill comes soaring out of the sky and rams the monster. As Pan passes out from the heat, she watches Gill valiantly rushing at the monster's head, and she mutters "Gill, it's OK -- escape now." She dreams -- seeing her friends and family. She apologizes to them. Then, she wakes up to water being dropped on her face by Gill. Not only did the robot find water, but it also killed the centipede, and recovered the #5 Dragon Ball. Pan suddenly turns on the robot, panicking it, and apologizes for her behavior. Then, Gokuu and Trunks show up. They all go to the rock quarry where Gill found the water, and frolic. Trunks apologizes for what he'd said earlier, and welcomes Pan into their quest to save Earth. All is well with the gang again, and because of Pan's running away, they now have another Dragon Ball.

The narrator comments on their recent events, and asks what will happen with Shogun Gilldo and Dr. Myuu.

Episode #16
(Aired 6/19/96)

Mashin Wakusei M2... Uragiri no Giro!?
Machine Planet M2... Gill the Backstabber!?

We start out with Pan piloting the ship, and being attacked by hundreds of robot ships. Turns out that Pan is playing a virtual video game against Gill and losing horribly. (The screen shows that Gill is spelled "Gill".) Gokuu wakes up, complaining that Pan is still playing this game. Trunks arrives and consults Gill on the whereabouts of the next Dragon Ball. Pan immediately challenges the robot to another round, and Trunks asks who is winning (the Street Fighter-style display shows Gill-50, Pan-0.) Gokuu wants them to stop so that he can sleep, and Pan yells out "one more!" This time, the ship's interior shows the game so that Trunks can watch. Pan loses again, spectacularly.
Trunks returns to flying the real ship, while Pan chases Gill around to try to force it to play yet one more round. When she catches it, it suddenly starts letting off steam and acting like it has overheated (to Pan's concern.) The lights go out in the ship for a moment, allowing Gill to see outside a window. It stares out at a passing planet and mutters that it wants to return there. But, when Gill realizes that Pan has walked up behind it, it yells "Pan! Danger!" and runs off again. Later that night, while the others are sleeping, Pan wakes up and stares at the white planet with what seems to be a big splotchy blob covering part of its face.
The next morning, Trunks is acting surprised at the news from Pan. He doesn't want to make any detours at this point in the quest to save Earth, but Pan insists that it'll only be for a short time, and for a good cause. Gokuu thinks that they may be able to get more food there. Trunks caves in, and Pan thanks them both. Gill stares out at space and says "I'm coming home."
Part of the planet is red sand and craters, part is lush forest, and the rest is deserted city ruins. In one tower, Shogun Rirudo is asking for a status update. A robot answers that the ship has changed course for planet M2. Rirudo is pleased at the work of "DD4649T22006RS". Myuu appears on the screen, and he also asks for a report. Rirudo replies that he will soon deliver their prey, and is given the run of M2 to make good on the promise.

[Commercial Break]

The ship lands in a wood-lined clearing, and the kids step out to stretch. Trunks tells Pan to stay near the ship, and she agrees to it. Suddenly, there is a scream -- Gokuu had flown up into a tree and found an apple, but when he bit into it, he hurt his teeth. Pan rags on him for blindly eating strange food, but it turns out that the apple is really a VERY heavy metal ball. Pan wants to keep the pretty thing as a souvenir, until Gill eats it. The robot gets a much bigger energy boost than it had been expecting, and lights up the woods. There's an explosion, which leaves the robot pounded into the ground, and acting sheepish. (Gokuu apologizes for finding the apple in the first place.)
Later, the heroes reach the city, and comment on how run down the deserted place looks -- in fact, the entire planet seems to be people-free. Gokuu calls out "Is anyone here?", which causes an alarm signal to sound. Suddenly, they are surrounded by thousands of green versions of Gill (Pan blames Gokuu for this.) One of the green robots greets DD4649T22006RS, and welcomes it back home. However, while it seems to be recognized by all of the green robots, Gill claims to not know any of them. It also claims to not know if this is its home planet. Suddenly, Gill acts as if it remembers something (or has been summoned somewhere)and floats off. Gokuu hopes that Gill will return with food. The heroes are left behind, surrounded by all of the green robots.
When Shogun Rirudo calls out "DD4649T22006RS", all of the robots in the area freeze up. The Shogun is in the tallest tower in the city, watching on a holographic projector. Gill joins him, and he congratulates DD4649T22006RS for luring the humans to M2. Meanwhile, Gokuu is exercising on an escalator, and Trunks is wondering if Gill had been acting strangely just now. Then, Gill shows up and leads them deeper into the city (Pan has another metal apple in her hand, but Gill ignores it).
They get to an older part of the city, and Gokuu senses the great power of the four stupid-looking robots that had been planning to ambush them. The robots phase out into the open (they can swim through solid stone, if they want.) The leader is amused at Gokuu's sensing them, and looks forward to a fun time (as well as getting the Dragon Balls.) The leader tells the others to power up, and the resulting explosion sends Pan and Trunks into the walls of the nearby buildings; Gokuu was ready for this, and stayed on his feet while being pushed backwards. Gokuu is impressed, not having felt this much power in a long time. He introduces himself and asks who the robots are. The leader replies "M2's commandos -- Ener-cannon Shin-go" (The Energy Cannon 4.)
Pan wants to know what the EC4 -- who are now holding Gill -- are planning to do with her friend. She is told that this isn't "Gill", it is "DD4649T22006RS", who is a member of EC4's gang. Pan doesn't buy this and runs forward. Into a trap. One robot breaks up into thousands of BB's that shoot forward and encase Gokuu and Trunks. This robot sprays the two heroes with sleeping gas and they pass out. Another robot (with missiles for fists) chases Pan away. This robot plans on hurting Pan until Gill speaks up. Gill states that Pan is stranded here and can't escape; further, the Dragon Balls that Shogun Rirudo wants are on the bodies of the two captives. This satisfies the leader, and the robots fly away. Pan has trouble believing what has happened, and wonders what she should do now.

Episode #17
(Aired 6/26/96)

Pan ni Omakase! Gokuu kyuu shutsu sakusen!!
Waiting for Pan!! The Tactical Strike to Rescue Gokuu!!

Gokuu and Trunks are peacefully sleeping in a holding cell. Rirudo is staring at them from a monitor at his chair, wondering if these two wimps could really have the powers that Dr. Myuu is looking for. Rirudo orders that a group of medical robots examine the two prisoners. Meanwhile, a strange growth of greenery is making its furtive way closer to the mouth of the big metal tower. When she thinks that the coast is clear, Pan moves forward -- into the path of a group of purple drone robots. They trample her without noticing it. This bothers Pan so much that when the final robot, a flag-bearer, stops on top of her, she loses her temper and trashes it.
As Pan gets a little deeper into the tower, she is faced with the problem of getting past all of the robots marching around. She decides to sneak along the ceiling pipeworks, but the pipe she is on immediately breaks and drops her into a big guard robot. Pan evades notice by slipping onto a side corridor before the guard can turn around. But, the pain in her head makes her want to return home. It also makes her careless -- the wall she is leaning against opens out onto a conveyor belt. The belt drops her into a pile of robot bodies, in what is obviously a robot factory. Pan becomes happy with a new idea.
In her new disguise as a purple robot, Pan is extremely happy with her ability to get around unchallenged. Then, she stumbles onto a meeting, where Shogun Rirudo, in front of the teaming robot minions, gives a special medal to Gill for its part in giving them some of the Dragon Balls. Pan is outraged. Gill calls out "Shogun Rirudo -- Banzai." "Dr. Myuu -- Banzai." Pan realizes that this must be a planet belonging to Myuu, and the guy standing in front of her must be Rirudo. Further, Gill is probably one of Myuu's creations. Before she can speculate much more, a nearby robot berates her for blocking the exit; the presentation is over.
In a lab elsewhere, Trunks and Gokuu are being (CAT) scanned. When the 3-D analysis of Gokuu is built up, the lead medic-robot becomes alarmed. This robot interrupts Rirudo's mooning over Gill (Gill has all of the spare parts that it can eat) to show the Shogun that Gokuu's energy level is really high. Rirudo is shocked by the data. He wonders if Gokuu could have easily defeated the EC4, and if it is wise to send the boy on to Myuu as ordered. Gill approaches and offers to turn over all of the data it has on Gokuu and Trunks' fighting pattern -- thus easily allowing them to defeat the humans. Rirudo praises Gill for this.

[Commercial Break]

The EC4 are hooked up to Gill, and they watch every battle that Gill has recorded -- for Gokuu, Trunks and Pan. Rirudo is happy about this (the data on Gokuu is completely entered into the EC4.) While the two human males sleep, Pan is complaining about being stuck in with another bunch of purple robots. She is additionally concerned as she watches the robots ahead of her phasing through a solid wall. She stalls for time, but is pushed ahead by the robots behind her. Bouncing off the wall, Pan is declared to be broken, and is summarily thrown into a room filled with other malfunctioners. (One robot keeps repeating "Where am I? Who am I?")
Another robot explains that this is the room for broken "machine mutants." It tells us that the machine mutants were made by Dr. Myuu, and that they destroyed the planet's original population. The robot gets stuck repeating "this planet's inhabitants" as the camera shows us that the mutants have taken over. (It is an old robot, so it remembers what had happened so long ago.) It also knows that Gill, the prisoners, and the Dragon Balls are all at the top of the tower. It asks what Pan will do with this info, and she replies that she will rescue the prisoners, of course. The old robot disagrees, and points out the garbage compactor walls that are suddenly closing in on them.
Pan throws off the top half of her disguise, blows out the sealed doors, and pulls all of the junk robots to safety. The old robot tells Pan of the elevator at the end of the hall; Pan thanks it, and she runs down the hall still wearing the bottom half of the robot shell. Rirudo is alerted to the explosion, and tells the EC4 to capture Pan. The EC4 has absorbed all of the data on the humans, and the smallest of the 4 robots asks the leader for permission to handle Pan alone. The runt then taunts Pan, easily phasing into the corridor walls to evade her attacks, before easily hitting her with its missiles. The robot gloats over how Gill (identifying Gill by its human-given name) has taught them all about the humans' fighting patterns. Pan breaks into tears, then says that she hates all of them. Pan's energy ball takes the runt robot by surprise and reduces it to a blackened shell. Pan states that while she may be a small girl, she is still strong.
The remaining 3 robots are watching videos of Pan and Trunks arguing over whether Trunks can give Gill a snack. The three are amused at how completely the humans will suckered in by DD4649T22006RS. Trunks says that Gill's finding of a Dragon Ball was great, and the EC4 leader says "of course, Gill was built by Myuu to have its own "dragon data" (Dragon Radar.) Gokuu opens his eyes, saying that that was a mean trick (he had been lying awake for a while.) Gokuu adds that Gill really was their friend. The leader claims that the robot was just following its programming.
Then, Pan busts into the room. One robot blindsides her, slapping Pan into the wall. Gokuu won't permit this to happen, and he powers up a bit to escape his restraints; at the same time, destroying Trunks' medi-pod (and the entire room.) Trunks also wakes up.

Episode #18
(Aired 7/10/96)

Deeta Nya Nai Ze!! Gokuu no Chou-honki
Yo, Some Data is Missing!! Gokuu's Ultimate True Determination

The EC3 (AKA, the EC4 minus 1) are laughing as Trunks and Gokuu look at Pan's fallen body. Gokuu won't let them get away with this, and one of the EC3 replies that with Dr. Myuu's data on the humans' fighting patterns, they are undefeatable. Gokuu isn't so sure about that. He tells Trunks to take Pan to safety, locate Gill, and recover the Dragon Balls. When Trunks goes to Pan, the biggest EC3 robot attacks, but is blocked by Gokuu, who tells it that its opponent is Gokuu only. Trunks escapes with Pan.
Gokuu and the EC3 leader fight, with Gokuu getting the worst of it. The EC3 tells Gokuu that the data they have on him came from Gill, and Gokuu acts surprised and angry. Rirudo is watching via his monitor, and he praises Gill again for its help. Gill replies "Giro" happily. Gokuu is given the chance to surrender, and doesn't take it. And, there is more fighting. Gokuu gets roughed up again. The leader comments that Gokuu is only fighting at a fraction of his known measured strength. Gokuu smiles and fires off an energy ball. The EC3 sink into the floor to evade it. Gokuu hasn't seen this trick before, and he stands stunned long enough for a robot to set his pants on fire again. He has to actually be told that the robots can phase through metal before he catches on (the leader asks if he can not do such a simple thing himself, and Gokuu answers that this is not "simple" -- it's awesome.) Gokuu asks how they like his next attack, and rapidly fires off energy balls in all directions. The robots get blown out of the walls, and onto the floor. They ask "who is this guy?", and Gokuu claims that it is now his turn to kick butt.
Trunks takes Pan to the ship and discovers that it has been ransacked. He confirms that the Dragon Balls are gone, and accidentally hits Pan in the head with a can. Pan wakes up, and is told that the Balls are indeed missing. Pan gets angry.

[Commercial Break]

The EC3 still want to fight. However, the leader announces that they will continue as the "mega cannon". In a silly transformer sequence, the three robots combine into one larger, stronger robot. It powers up, and Gokuu is happily impressed by the sight. Rirudo anticipates a good battle, and the action begins. Eventually, Gokuu gets blasted through the nearby forest. When he recovers, he gleefully comments on the Mega Cannon's great power. Then he steps things up. Mega Cannon switches to flying formation, and looks like a dragon fly. The resulting game of tag makes Rirudo angry, and the Shogun starts emitting black tendrils of energy.
Mega Cannon is now a little faster than Gokuu, and its laser beam attack keeps the boy running away. MC switches to power drill mode, and now uses a ballistic attack. This is played for laughs for a few minutes. Then, Gokuu grabs the tip of MC's head drill, and powers up a bit in order to hold MC at bay. He then throws MC into a cliff and powers down. He tells MC that this has been fun, but now that he knows their full abilities, he is bored with them. He adds that he has powers that Gill hasn't seen yet, and Rirudo watches on, emitting lightening and black tendrils. The Shogun soon settles down, and then leaves the tower to take on Gokuu himself.
Gokuu unleashes a rapid series of body punches that Mega Cannon is unprepared for, and finishes it off with Kamehame-ha. The three bodies of the Energy Cannon 3 fall heavily to the ground.
Gokuu doesn't have time to gloat -- his stomach is growling at him. He doesn't have time to search for edible food -- the great power he senses coming at him is MUCH greater than MC's was. At the ship, Pan is arguing with Trunks -- she wants to go along to get the Dragon Balls. Then, they too feel a great ki, and wonder whose it is.

The narrator tells us that with Shogun Rirudo getting involved, the "Super Battle" is about to begin. Rirudo and Gokuu both fly towards the ship.
------------------------------------------
NOTES: My Japanese wife originally heard the Shogun's name as "Girudo". However, the title for episode 19 gives it as "Rirudo". I have changed the Shogun's name in the earlier episodes, to correct this error.

"Ki" (AKA, "Chi") means "your internal energy force." It could be treated as life energy, or as energy that you focus on when you are about to hit an opponent in Karate.

Episode #19
(Aired 7/17/96)

Saikyou muutanto Rirudo
Set Out and Attack!! The Mighty Mutant Rirudo

Trunks and Pan are trying to figure out who the great ki is coming from, and hoping that whoever it is hasn't defeated Gokuu. Gokuu's arrival alleviates that fear, but they are still worried about who else will be arriving soon. Pan adds that the Dragon Balls are missing, and she wishes that they'd never found Gill. Then, Rirudo arrives in a rush of dust-laden air.
Rirudo comments on Gokuu's defeating Mega Cannon, and Gokuu replies that even with Rirudo's great ki, he can defeat the Shogun alone. Trunks also thinks that he can take the robot single-handedly. Pan butts in, trying to find out what is happening with Gill. Rirudo decides that he must tell the humans that he is the infamous Shogun Rirudo. Pan is not impressed, and she denounces Rirudo as the absolute worst. She attacks. Gokuu, Trunks, and Rirudo all expect the girl to get smashed into the ground again, but this time, she punches the Shogun hard in the face and follows it up with a kick that sends him flying backwards. Trunks and Gokuu are stunned. Trunks tentatively observes that Pan is indeed a chip off the old block, and Pan agrees, stating that when she wants to do something -- she does. She is not a mere kid anymore. She asks if Rirudo agrees, and demands the Dragon balls back. Rirudo says that he can't do that, and stands up. He straightens out his neck, with mechanical popping noises. Turns out that the Balls have been given to Dr. Myuu -- for his "All Galaxy Safe-something." Gokuu asks what this is, and we are told that Myuu has created all of these "machine mutants" in his quest to take over the universe.
Gokuu doesn't understand any of this. Instead, he concentrates on the evils wrought be Rirudo. Rirudo suddenly targets on Pan and spits out some kind of light-green lightening. Trunks protects the girl and gets hit himself. The lightening changes, and Trunks falls to the ground, encased in a lead-colored shell (ala the deep-freeze treatment Han Solo received in the second Star Wars movie.) Then, the shell disappears. Pan demands to know what happened to her friend, and springs at Rirudo. This time, her punch has no effect and she is easily batted away. Gokuu can't understand Rirudo's cryptic answers, and is ultimately told that he can find out what's happening by visiting the big tower in the city. (Trunks was sent there prior to being shipped off to Myuu's planet.) Pan flies to the tower, telling Trunks to wait for her. Rirudo wants to capture Gokuu as well, and fires off more green lightening from his mouth. Gokuu evades the blasts, but part of the forest, and the entire ship, get lead-encased (they don't warp away, though.) Gokuu feels sheepish at letting the ship get trashed. Rirudo decides to switch to plain combat, which is to Gokuu's liking.
At the tower, Pan is wondering where Trunks is. Then she decides on the brute force method and blows a hole randomly into the top of the
tower. The alarm system goes off, and the "red commandos" are dispatched to level one. (Outside, Gokuu and Rirudo are fighting hard and destroying the countryside.) The first round of commandos is quickly trashed, while the lone survivor is requested to tell Pan where Trunks is. The last surviving red commando says "gack."

[Commercial Break]

Rirudo gets hammered into a cliff, and fires off a rocket punch to Gokuu's head. The boy complains about this sneaky trick. The machine mutant apologizes, and commands the rocket to return and hit Gokuu in the back of the head. The fist opens at the last moment, grabs Gokuu's face, and plows the boy into the earth. The hand returns to its owner, still holding Gokuu's limp body. Rirudo laughs, and so does our hero. Rirudo is surprised as Gokuu suddenly unleashes a rapid series of energy balls into the Shogun's belly at close range. Rirudo isn't hurt much after the smoke clears. In fact, he is having fun, and the two of the them resume bashing each other.
In the tower, Gill is watching as Trunks is about to be teleported to Myuu's planet. Pan enters the lab room a moment too late. Gill tells her what she already knows about Trunks being teleported. It adds "Pan. Danger." Pan tries to attack Gill, but the room's defenses have been activated and the floor warps and appears to be ready to squeeze her. Instead, Pan is suddenly teleported down to the front gate of the tower -- unharmed.
On Myuu's planet (a black sphere covered with huge conduit and black domes), in a black tower designed to look monster-ish, Myuu is very eager to start exploring the possibilities that have opened up with the advent of Trunks' falling into his clutches.
Gokuu is firing energy blasts that hit everywhere but where Rirudo is standing. The mutant disses the boy, before part of a volcanic wall tears loose and falls on him. The Shogun gets angry, powering up and blasting the rock away. Gokuu seems to have disappeared -- Rirudo locates him just as the boy launches Kamehame-ha. The ensuing atomic blast apparently destroys Rirudo. But, Gokuu knows that things can't be that simple -- Rirudo is waiting at the boy's back, suffering a little superficial damage. Gokuu comments that while Rirudo escaped the Kamehame-ha's full fury, the mutant won't be so lucky next time. Rirudo isn't so sure -- he returns to the ground to do more hand-to-hand combat, while the (are you surprised) still-surviving EC4 swim through a metal pipe to approach their Shogun. All four robots materialize and grab the boy's arms and legs.
Rirudo thinks that the fight is over, and Gokuu laughs. Rirudo asks what's so funny; the boy goes SSJ, his ki blows a huge crate in the forest, blasts Rirudo away, and smashes the EC4 into bits. Rirudo says that he now understands -- Gokuu had only been using half of his full power until now. Gokuu says "same for you, right?" It is time to quit playing around, and Rirudo switches to the next level up, absorbing all of the loose bits of machinery around him (including all of the EC4.) He announces that he is now "Mega Rirudo".
When the hurricane subsides, the machine mutant is a cross between a metal ninja and a jet plane (mostly red body, with stiff short wings coming out of his back. His right hand is now the big power drill).
Gokuu is looking forward to having some real fun, and they rush forward again.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: "Shutsujin" actually translates to "Set out from the 'jin' in order to attack." The 'jin' is a military formation that is part camp and part grouping of foot soldiers. Probably, the closest English equivalent is "Engage!"

Episode #20
(Aired 7/31/96)

Tamageta zo!! Gokuu o osou kinzoku tsunami
Surprise!! Gokuu's Attacked By a Metal Storm

Gokuu and Rirudo fight, with the Shogun turning part of the mecha-forest into stone, and Gokuu's body smashing it into rubble. Rirudo announces his Hyper Mega Rirudo Pautsu (Parts?), and attacks with a power drill-powered tornado. (Gokuu is still excited, but the battle is losing its glamour for him.) Gokuu comments on Rirudo's great power, and they quickly revert to energy ball blasts. Rirudo gets pummeled deep into the forest.
Meanwhile, Pan is once again fighting her way into the tower, while complaining about Gill. Right after entering the lab, Pan has just a second to yell at Gill before the lab's defenses activate and the room reforms to transport her back outside.
Rirudo has gotten a little roughed up (the drill bit hand has been broken off.) Gokuu knows that Rirudo is still not fighting at full strength and demands that the Shogun power-up completely. The Shogun is impressed with the boy's confidence, and understands why he'd make a great gift to Dr. Myuu. Gokuu doesn't care about Myuu -- he only wants to see Rirudo's true form. The Shogun then incorporates part of the planet's cabling into his body; turning completely silver and smooth, except for some screw heads scattered over his torso. He is now in complete control of the entire planet. As Gokuu prepares to fire Kamehame-ha, Rirudo turns part of the ground into liquid metal, and makes metal trees grow up right in front of the boy (disrupting the Kamehame-ha.) The new liquid metal forest is huge, and Rirudo merges in to become part of it.
Pan re-enters the tower, getting more annoyed every second. The red commandos are alerted, and are waiting for her. Pan comments that the robots underestimate her power, and they pile on top of her. She grouses that they are in her way, and she trashes them -- knocking the robots off the pathway and into the depths below. All except for one robot, which prudently jumps off the path by itself. Another robot arrives behind her, and Pan attacks. Then, she desperately tries to pull her punch when she recognizes the old robot from the trash compactor room. Pan asks why she can't stay in the room that Gill is in, and the old one answers that it's because of the trans-dimensional warp equipment used to send stuff places, like to Dr. Myuu's planet. Pan realizes that this is what happened to Trunks. She asks for instructions on how to use the equipment, turning her charms on the old one -- it answers "I don't know." So, Pan punches it through the ceiling into the floor below (it can flow through metal also.) She calls it a worthless old hulk.

[Commercial Break]

Rirudo joins with the liquid metal again, and tells Gokuu that he is one with the entire planet. Gokuu is fascinated. The boy loses interest fast though, saying that he already realizes that Rirudo has great powers; but, he's in a hurry and wants to start fighting full-out already. Rirudo seems to be taking the bait.
On Myuu's planet, Dr. Myuu is watching the fight on a monitor, commenting that Gokuu seems to be the "Legendary Super Saiya-jin." He keeps laughing, and tells the frozen Trunks that he hopes to be using the Saiya's powers very shortly.
Pan and the old robot get on an elevator, with a hundred red commandos. Pan complains about their brain-damaged thinking, and when the doors open again, none of the commandos work anymore. Pan confronts the traitorous Gill, ranting that everything that happened from Ruudo's planet onwards was all a trick to lead the heroes into the trap on this planet. Then, the defenses trigger again, and Pan is pulled into the walls to be deposited back outside. The old robot goes to the control console and pulls out a cylinder that deactivates the wall warp. Pan blasts herself free from the "rude" wall, and demands that Gill return the Dragon Balls so that the Earth can be saved. Gill claims ignorance, and Pan gleefully exclaims that it can't rely on the wall warp anymore. But, Gill phases through the door and leaves the room. Pan tries to get Gill to open the door, then prepares to use Kamehame-ha on it. The door opens, revealing more guards, these armed with guns. Pan decides to use Kamehame-ha on them instead. However, Gill reactivates the wall warp, the old robot gets captured, Pan loses her concentration, and the walls force Pan back out of the room. Gill says only one word -- "Pan".
Back outside once more, Pan wonders what to do now. Then, she notices that one of the Dragon Balls is outside with her (Gill apparently transported the three Dragon Balls, plus the medal it had been wearing, out to Pan.) Pan is happy to see the Dragon Ball, but she also wonders "why?"
Gokuu and Rirudo keep messing around, with the Shogun using the metal of the planet as extensions of his body. Gokuu is getting angry, and Rirudo taunts him, saying that Gokuu will soon be given to Myuu.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: I am not sure of the pronunciation of Rirudo's tornado attack. It sounds like "Hyper Mega Rirudo Pautsu". It could be "Parts", which doesn't make much sense. Or, it could be "Pa!", which is like the energy-focusing yell that Tao Pie-pie used in his "Dodon-Pa" attack. However, Rirudo only uses this attack once. Since he is killed soon, this attack will never be repeated in the future.

Episode #21
(Aired 8/7/96)

Nante kotta!! Kinzokuban ni natta Gokuu
What is this!! Gokuu is Turned to Metal

There is a stare-off, and then the attack -- the shockwave flattens the countryside. There's more fighting and Gokuu is kicked into a movie theater in the city. Gokuu hides in the rubble, and Rirudo tries to blast him out into the open. This causes the movie projector to start running, and when the fighting resumes, Gokuu is amused that the female movie character seems to be screaming in fear of Rirudo. The Shogun angrily blows up the projector, and bats Gokuu out to the lobby. The boy lands on top of two drink fountains, and comments on the delicious juice pouring on his head. Rirudo wants to finish this off, and says "Good-bye" as he uses his mouth blast. Gokuu aims the juice at the Shogun, blinding him, and escapes.
A game of hide and seek follows until Gokuu's hiding place collapses under him. Gokuu then hides by standing in front of a poster advertising the movie -- Star-zine. Pan flies up, yelling that she has the Dragon Balls, but couldn't save Trunks. Gokuu yells back that Pan should not come any closer to the battle. Rirudo attacks Pan, while using his liquid metal attack on Gokuu. Both Saiya-jin get nailed, and are quickly encased in metal tablets. Back at the tower, Rirudo tells Gill to teleport the tablets containing Gokuu and Pan. Gill gladly transports Gokuu, but objects that it is not necessary to send Pan. Rirudo threatens Gill, and Pan is sent as well. Then, at Dr. Myuu's lab, Myuu arrives and is very happy to have all of the Saiya-jin PLUS the Dragon Balls. He orders the operation to begin. All three tablets are placed on operating tables.

[Commercial Break]

Myuu switches on the system. Targeting lasers draw intersecting lines on Gokuu. Gill teleports in, and Myuu bids the robot to watch on as the work is about to begin for cutting up the Saiya-jin in order to collect their energy. But, Gill rushes over to Gokuu's control panel and shuts it down. Myuu demands an answer for this. Gill replies with "Girurururu", and fires a rocket at Myuu's control console, destroying it. Gill then pulls out a strange knife. Myuu asks who had created M2, but Gill answers that its friends are Pan, Gokuu, and Trunks; if Myuu threatens them, then Myuu is not needed any more. Myuu can't understand this, and the robot uses the knife to emit a special beam that melts Gokuu's tablet. As Myuu is coping with the idea that all of this had been an elaborate trick, Gokuu is freed, followed by Pan. Pan takes a moment to recover, then wants to exact revenge on Gill, while Gill is trying to tell her what is going on.
In the meantime, Myuu's henchbots grab Trunks' slab. If the tablet is broken, it can't be restored, making it a good hostage. One henchbot is sent to operate the transporter, but is obstructed by Gill. There now ensues a game of keep away with Trunks' tablet, until Gill blows up the teleporter -- distracting the henchbot trying to catch the tablet. The tablet shatters on the floor. Myuu is as distressed as Pan and Gokuu are. Then, Trunks shouts out that it's ok, he is "over here".
The camera pans to show Trunks coming down the stairs along one tall wall. Gill chides Trunks for being late, and the boy apologizes -- he was busy. Gokuu guesses that all of this was part of the plan; Pan doesn't understand at all. Gokuu adds that this proves that Gill is A-OK. Trunks states that he and Gill had planned all of this up to this point. The Trunks tablet was a fake. Pan angrily grabs the robot, then is happy that Gill wasn't a traitor after all.
Myuu orders his henchbots to open fire. The bots are destroyed and Myuu runs up the stairs that Trunks had come down. Trunks flies to the top of the stairs to stop Myuu, then shows the other two heroes the "secret room". He opens the door at the top of the stairs to reveal a huge open space. In the middle, in a big glass jar, is a metal larva-like embryo.

Episode #22
(Aired 8/14/96)

Abakareta yabou!! Ja-aku seimeitai Bebii
Violent Ambition!! Birth of the Evil 'Baby'

The secret room is HUGE, and Gokuu and Pan are in awe of the machine caring for Baby. Myuu staggers towards his creation, apologizing to it. During all of this, Baby seems to be sleeping, its heart beating noticeably, but like it is in pain. Gokuu and Pan speculate over whether Baby is a new kind of machine mutant, and Trunks tells them that Baby is very different from the others -- a much more potentially powerful "neo-machine mutant". Myuu wants to know why the intruders understand his secret creation, and Trunks indicates that he'd been informed by Gill. Gill claims that if Baby succeeded, it's kind would be superfluous -- it was either Baby, or them. Which is why Trunks has already cut the power to Baby's computer.
Myuu snaps. Of course, Trunks -- as the son of Bulma -- has the skill to modify Myuu's computer's programming. At this point, as befits the death of someone important and powerful, the rain starts (in this case, it is a rain of meteors punching through the crystalline bio-dome and splashing into the artificial lake.) Myuu becomes one with his computer in an attempt to save Baby. Trunks claims that he'd killed Baby for the sake of all life in all of the galaxies. When Pan realizes that Myuu's goal of conquest included Earth, she gets righteously indignant, while Gokuu is unimpressed. Trunks sides with Pan. Gill comments that it, and it's kind, are guilty of doing many bad things for Myuu. Pan corrects the robot, adding that it had at least helped them stop Myuu. Gill is happy with this thought until Pan insults it as a joke; she then hops around like a boxer to challenge the little mecha. Trunks says that there was a lot of data to discover when he left M2, and he goes into a flashback.
When Trunks was still a tablet, Gill had teleported to Myuu's planet late at night. A strange robot surprised Gill, but it only wanted to punch the helpless Trunks tablet before wandering away. Gill then freed Trunks, and they discussed their findings on the machine mutants until the fake Trunks slab (created by Gill) teleported in. The two intruders share a laugh as the flashback ends.
Back in reality, Trunks comments that it was a good thing he'd uncovered Baby. Otherwise, there'd be no way of knowing what horrible things Baby would be capable of doing, given that Myuu is such a talented scientist.
Myuu cries out for his creation to not die. He goes mad, rambling on about how he slaved over Baby, to make it big and strong. He demands that Baby live, as he smashes his fist into the control console monitor.

[Commercial Break]

Pan is feeling a little pity for Myuu, and Gokuu ponders over the fun he could have had fighting Baby. Trunks tries to get the boy to become serious. Gokuu wonders if the neo-mutant is really dead. He crawls over the glass container like a cockroach, inspecting the monster. Myuu berates the boy for this show of disrespect, until Baby wakes up. Gill yells "Danger!", and Myuu coos over his little "cute Baby". The neo-mutant powers up, becoming fully formed.
Trunks is confused, having thought that he knew what he was doing. Myuu becomes a gushing daddy, while Gokuu expects the worst. Baby explodes free of his container, blowing the Saiya-jin out against the distant bio-dome walls. (The dome shows holes where the meteors have fallen through.) Myuu collapses to the ground. Gokuu yells for the others to stand alert, which they do.
Myuu commands Baby to send the Saiya-jin to Hell. Baby marks his targets, and says "sa -- ru -- jin". As Baby floats into the air and begins to power up some more, Gokuu calls out "Pan", "Trunks" -- "Now!" All three fire off their trademark energy balls, and blow Baby to bits.
Disheartened, Myuu presses a button on his chest, which converts the remains of Baby's container into a space ship. A bit of pink goo sneaks up Myuu's leg as the doctor stumbles to the ship. Myuu (with the damage he's taken, it is clear that he too is a machine) says "good-bye" and blasts off. Pan yells at the doctor to come back, and has to be restrained by Gokuu. Trunks tells her that with Baby dead, Myuu can no longer be a threat on his own. It is time for them to return to the task of finding the Dragon Balls. Pan asks about their ship -- Gill pulls out the energy knife to show that the ship can be restored.
In his own ship, Myuu vows to make Baby's successor, to take over the galaxy and destroy the Saiya-jin. Unfortunately, Baby takes over Myuu's body, and bursts out -- killing Myuu. Baby comments on the programming it had received, and the legacy bestowed on him by Ruudo and the other mutants. But, Baby has his own plans and goals. He sets his sights on M2 to intercept his prey. (When Baby crushed Myuu's head, the #1 Dragon Ball rolled out.)

NOTE: I can't find "seimeitai" in my dictionaries. I am assuming that it means "birth", until someone can prove otherwise.

Episode #23
(Aired 8/21/96)

Kakusareta Kiki!? Nanbasen to Nazo no Shonen
A Hidden Crisis!? A Spacewrecked and Mysterious Boy

Gill fires a rocket at the Capsule Corp. ship, releasing an energy wave that causes the frozen liquid metal to release the ship. Gokuu, Pan and Trunks comment on this, and tell Gill that it has done a good job. They get in the ship, and prepare to launch. Pan is glad to get away from this planet, but doesn't want Gill to take offense. The engines fire to take the heroes on to the next Dragon Ball. However, Hyper Mega Rirudo is still alive, and he secretes an arm to grab a leg of the ship. At first, Pan blames Trunks' driving for the sudden roughing up they get, then she blames Gill.
Looking out a window, they see Rirudo, who asks if they really plan on escaping M2 so easily. Trunks passes on the fate of Myuu to Rirudo, which only makes the Shogun more angry. He excretes another arm and grabs a second leg on the ship. Gokuu doesn't want to screw around any more, so the three open the door of the ship and they simultaneously blast the machine mutant in the face. He lets go, and the ship flies away, throwing the heroes into a pile inside. Below, in a massive crater, Baby flows away from Rirudo's destroyed body. Frustrated that it's plan failed, Baby screams.
Inside the ship, Pan complains about where Gokuu's hand is located, calling him a pervert. Gokuu denies that it's his hand that's touching her breast. When the pile is sorted out, Pan asks Gokuu to help find the next Dragon Ball. However, Gokuu is starving, and is therefore useless. He keeps complaining, and Pan tells him to be quiet. Gill starts calling out, and Pan yells at it to shut up. But, Trunks announces that they've located the next Ball. It is on a spacewrecked starcruiser trapped in the gravity well of a small star. Gill adds that the star's gravity pull is dangerously strong. Gokuu challenges Pan to help get the Ball, and she berates him for being the one earlier that was too weak to do anything. (Gokuu also hopes to find food on the ship.)
The three, wearing protective suits, ride space scooters to the ship. The wreck looks like it was in some kind of battle. Inside, there is more damage, and no signs of life. Gokuu wants to look for food. Pan states that they should get the Ball and leave before they get barbecued. Gill declares that the Ball is behind a door. The door opens and they enter what looks like an airlock. There is air in here, and they take off their helmets. Gill points out another door; Gokuu blasts it out of the way. The #1 Ball is mounted in some kind of holder in an open-sided pillar. Pan removes the Ball, while Trunks comments that this all feels too easy. Pan tells him to not worry about it. Then, she apparently feels someone's ki. Gokuu and Trunks can't feel it, so Pan plans to check the ship alone. The ship rocks, and Gill says that they have five minutes before it's too late to leave. Pan gives the Ball to Gokuu for protection, then runs off. Gokuu complains about Pan's behavior.
Before Trunks and Gokuu can mount the scooters to leave the ship, it starts to explode and Gill tells them that they really only have two minutes left before the ship is destroyed.

[Commercial Break]

Pan is walking in the corridors when she is attacked by a large egg-bodied robot standing on bird-legs. Pan demands an explanation, and it answers by firing a bunch of missiles at her. When the smoke clears, Trunks and Gokuu are revealed, having caught the missiles with their arms, legs, and teeth. Pan asks why they are here with her, and is told that Gill says they're running out of time. Pan quickly destroys the robot; she is pleased with herself, but the others don't think that it was any big deal. Gill announces that the ship is falling into the star.
They find a white faced, green haired boy in a cabin -- he is just barely alive. Then, they run back to the space scooters while Gill counts off the remaining seconds (until Pan hits Gill on the head). They escape the shipwreck, but the scooters are not strong enough to escape the gravity well. The wreck is consumed, Gokuu's suit starts smoldering, and they abandon the scooters (which also fall into the star).
Pan can not fly hard enough, and she starts to fall behind (the alien boy is strapped onto Trunks' back and has his own helmet.) Gill fires off a cable that attaches itself to a leg of the Capsule Corp. ship. (The gravity well is very steep for this star -- it tapers off quickly over only a few hundred meters and does not seem to affect the CC ship at all.) Gokuu grabs Gill, and Trunks grabs Gokuu and Pan. Gokuu lays out his plan. Soon, they are all safely wrapped up with Gill's cable, and Gokuu uses Kamehame-ha to propel them back to the safety of their ship. Then, they fly away.
The alien is put on a medi-bed. It has an unusual anatomy, but seems to be stable for the moment. Gill is commanded to check for subspace communications, and locates a hospital on a nearby inhabited planet. (Sounds like Planet "Pitaru".) Trunks and Pan say "We've been rescued." Gokuu agrees -- This planet MUST have food. Pan bops him on the head.
It is a pretty green/blue planet like Earth, with a big hospital. Pan accompanies the alien as it is wheeled on a gurney, stopping outside of ER. She seems worried about the boy's chances. They wait a long time. Finally, a doctor comes out to tell them that the worst is over and the alien is ok. Pan and Trunks are relieved. Then, they discover that Gokuu has disappeared. He is hiding under the couch, and he angrily says that he hates hospitals and wants to leave this planet immediately.
In the recovery room, the monitoring equipment starts malfunctioning. While the nurse tries to fix the problem, the boy wakes up and stands up on the bed. His confused expression turns evil and the hospital is rocked by a massive explosion. Several people in the corridor outside the room look to have been killed in the flames. A nurse tells the heroes that the blast came from the alien boy's room.

The narrator asks what kind of creature the boy is, and what have they brought to this planet?

NOTE: I am not sure of the name of this planet. It sounds like "Pitaru", which could be "Petal". It is not written anywhere, and is not mentioned again later.

Episode #24
(Aired 8/28/96)

Bebii gyaku shuu!! Nerawareta Saiyajin!!
Baby's Counterattack!! Target the Saiya-jin!!

The hospital staff struggles to contain the flames as the heroes run up to them. Pan asks what's happened to the alien boy, and the rescuers don't know. A secondary explosion goes off with a cloud of black smoke, sending everyone into coughing jags. All except for Gokuu, who has rescued the nurse and the boy.
The boy is wheeled into another room, and Pan says that even if Gokuu hates hospitals, it's good that he'd stayed inside with them. However, Gokuu is missing again and Trunks comments that the boy really does hate hospitals. The alien is partially awake, and Baby thinks to itself that it has another chance coming soon.
Outside, Gokuu is halfway up a tree, refusing to come down and enter the building to eat. The only thing on this planet is the hospital, but Gokuu's hunger is not enough to force him to enter the hated place. Pan and Trunks pull Gokuu away, as the alien boy watches from a window. Baby has inserted itself inside the boy's body, and it sticks its head out from under the hospital gown. Baby is pleased with its trap and is eagerly looking forward to sucking out the power of the 3 Saiya-jin. It asks the heroes to just wait for it to discover its needed opening.
The male heroes find a river and catch fish bare-handed. One big fish catches Gill. The robot gets free and hides behind Trunks. Pan is near the hospital, petting a deer (the deer tries to suck her nipple and Pan calls it "etchi".) The alien boy comes up behind her, commenting that the deer really is cute. She asks if its ok for the boy to be out walking like this, and he says that he's feeling fit enough. He asks where Gokuu and Trunks are (catching food) and the deer bumps Pan in the butt. Pan complains to the deer, turning her back on the alien boy. Baby reaches out to grab her neck, looking forward to getting the Saiya power very soon. But, Gokuu and Trunks pick this moment to arrive, and Baby has to bide its time some more. Then, the main surgeon arrives. He tells the boy that it's too early for him to be outside walking about. The alien is put into a wheelchair and pushed back to the hospital.
The surgeon tells the boy that he's not strong enough to be outside, and Baby decides to engulf the doctor (apparently entering the doctor's body through his ears.) The surgeon/Baby asks a nurse to take the alien boy back to the hospital (the boy doesn't seem to be dead, but he's not overly active either.) Baby laughs at having found a new victim.
The three heroes are lying on a riverbank, having eaten all of the fish. Trunks thinks that the weather is perfect for finding the next Ball. Pan wonders how Earth is doing, and Trunks thinks that she is homesick. Gokuu is still starving (the clouds remind him of food). Pan is also still hungry, but Gokuu refuses to return to the hospital. The main surgeon walks up and asks them to come eat. Gokuu claims that if they enter the building, people will give them shots and they'll die. The doctor assures them that this won't happen. 24 plates of food later, Gokuu is feeling better. He asks for refills.
The doctor wonders if the older boy is named "Trunks"; would Trunks like to have a tour of the hospital? Trunks claims to have never been in a hospital on Earth, and so he wants to go on the tour.

[Commercial Break]

Trunks and the doctor enter an isolated lab. Trunks is impressed, and he plays with the controls of some scanner equipment. The doctor grabs Trunks by the throat and drools over the chance to get the Saiya power. Baby exposes itself, saying that it is the culmination of Myuu's science. With the three Saiya-jin's power, it will become perfect. Trunks asks what had happened on the shipwreck, and Baby answers that it had sucked everyone dry. Baby launches itself at Trunks, and he asks if this is Gokuu's cue. Gokuu replies "yes"; Baby gets hit by an energy blast. The mutant is smashed over onto the floor. Turns out that the heroes had sensed Baby back on the shipwreck, and had entered the trap to see what would happen. Before engaging Baby in combat, Pan wants to know why it had one of the Dragon Balls. Baby says that Myuu possessed that one Ball, and from the data Myuu had gathered, Baby knew that it could be used as bait for the trap.
Otherwise, Baby has no use for the Dragon Balls -- it just wants the Saiya-jin. It attacks Pan, but is blown away by Gokuu. Baby gets a little roughed up, and looks like it will be destroyed as the heroes prepare to blast it all at once. Baby gets mad and powers up. The resulting explosion knocks them away, and carves open Trunks' shoulder. This is the opening Baby wanted; it enters Trunks' body through the wound. Gokuu and Pan realize their mistake, and Baby glories in the powers it can command from a Saiya-jin. Trunks/Baby blasts Gokuu in the face. When Gokuu tries to fight back, Pan reminds him that it is Trunks that will get hurt or killed. While they are arguing over this, Trunks/Baby attacks again. It looks like Gokuu is in real danger, except that the next blast goes wild; Trunks is trying to get control back over his body (the only choice that would be even worse for Baby to make would be to try to control Vejiita).
Trunks goes to SSJ and Baby basks in the power it feels. Unfortunately, its victim yells out "I am TRUNKS!!" and the mutant is expelled back to the lab floor. Trunks powers down, and slumps over from weakness. Baby realizes that it still can't achieve the power of a Saiya-jin. Gokuu spots its hiding place. Baby emits a blinding light from its eyes. Gill senses Baby's escape, but Gokuu can't react in time.
Later, as people are waiting to board a departing spaceliner, Baby emerges from its hiding place behind a piece of luggage and takes over a new victim. Gokuu loses Baby's energy signature, and the mutant boards the liner. The heroes return to their ship, and Trunks speculates over what happened. Pan is repulsed by the idea of a machine sneaking inside a body, then asks if Gill can do the same thing. Gill panics and Pan laughs at her joke. Trunks and Pan wonder if they should go after Baby or after the remaining Dragon Balls. Gokuu is asked for his opinion. He says "Of course... I'm still hungry." Pan asks if the only thing he ever thinks about is food. He stands up, and succumbs to his starving stomach.

The narrator asks what the body-consuming Baby is really planning on doing, and the camera shows that everyone on the spaceliner has been sucked dry. And, the liner is heading towards Earth.

Ok, shut up and sit down. It's time for a little cultural background. Drink it in -- it's good for you. You'll be a better person for it.
Back near the end of Spring 1996, there were several DBZ fanboys that were more than a bit pissed off at the existence of Dragonball GT. These snivelers would sit around and gripe about how bad they thought DBGT was. And, when an unfounded rumor met their ears, they went apeshit over the possibility that DBGT would end at the end of Sept. 1996, and would then be replaced a little later on with new episodes of DBZ to be created by Akira Toriyama.
Of course, eventually, someone went back to the source of the rumor, and discovered that in a magazine interview, Toriyama had JOKED about possibly resurrecting DBZ if DBGT did not do as well as its producers wanted it to. That is -- DBZ is NOT coming back any time in the near future -- it was a JOKE.
However, the DBGT TV episodes did go into hibernation right around the end of September. But, this was more a matter of how TV works in Japan, than for any other reason. Basically, the major TV "season" starts in September, with some shows ending at the end of Summer, and the new series beginning between September and October (there are minor "seasons" starting in January and March.) An on-going show may then be put on hold for a few weeks while a few movies are played in its place. And, during the course of the year, various shows will be pre-empted by a baseball game, or a seasonal variety special.
So it is with Dragonball GT. Instead of showing another DBGT episode, Fuji TV aired several DBZ movies on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2nd. The titles of those movies appear below. If you want summaries of the movies, I suggest that you grab a copy of the DBZ Movies listings available on my website. (Hoffman website is offline, so you can find a copy of the DBZ Movies listings in DBA "Movies & Specials" section... NoteByGogeta)

The TV series itself resumed on Oct. 9th. The summary for episode 25 follows the movie titles.

Sept. 25, 1996, had the airing of two older DBZ theatrical releases:

Ginga Girigiri!! Butchi-giri no Sugoi Yatsu
-- The Strongest Guy in the Universe!!

Suupaa Senshi Gekiha!! Katsu no Ore da
-- Super Fighter Shootout!! I'm the One Who Will Win.
------------------------------------------
Oct. 2, 1996, had one theatrical release on TV:

Suupaa Saiya-jin da Son Gokuu
-- This is the Super Saiya-jin, Son Gokuu.

Episode #25
(Aired 10/9/96)

Taihen da!! Chikyuu ni Bebii ga Arawareta
Oh no!! Baby Has Appeared on Earth

[New character: Paris-chan: A teenaged redhead girl that Goten asks out on a date. She is very naive, but seems sincerely interested in Goten as a boyfriend.]

We are back on Earth, inside Capsule Corp. Chichi is embarrassed over the fact that, while she had dragged Goten along from their home in the countryside to spend time with Bulma, Goten is actually concentrating on his love talk with his girlfriend over his cell phone. And, Vejiita is shaving off his mustache, anticipating some kind of reaction from his visitors. Goten sets up a date with Paris-chan in Satan City, and leaves the room, with Bulma wishing him luck, and Chichi telling him to be careful out there. Vejiita wants Goten's reaction to his new look, but Goten is in a hurry and doesn't notice anything unusual. Bulma notices, and says that he looks better without the mustache. This embarrasses him in front of Chichi. Chichi hadn't known that he'd had a mustache, and Bulma tells her of a time long ago when Vejiita had tried to grow a 'stache, and Bulma's response to give up on it. The girls laugh over this (in Japan, facial hair is not considered fashionable) and Vejiita pledges to kill them both. Chichi and Bulma then get wistful, thinking that Gokuu and friends only have four more months to find the Dragon Balls and save Earth. Chichi hopes that Pan is ok, and Bulma says not to worry, with Gokuu around.
Elsewhere, Gokuu finds the next Dragon Ball, but disturbs the giant cat-creature guarding it by tripping and pulling off the cat's whisker. There is a short chase up a cliff, and a beautiful Bug's Bunny-style "look below you" gag. The cat hits the ground below, sees tweeting birds, and tries to attack the birds. The heroes now have the #7 Ball, and only need two more.
On Earth, a blond-haired bodybuilder type is causing severe destruction, disrupting a bank robbery while asking the robbers if they know where the Saiya-jin are. Anyone that doesn't give the right answer is killed (the bank explodes.) Goten has gotten an ice cream cone (AKA - soft cream in Japan) for Paris-chan. Paris-chan is a very cute, well-coifed redhead that is apparently from the countryside. She's never seen ice cream before, and thinks that she needs a spoon to eat it. When she first starts to lick the ice cream, Goten thinks that she is really cute. But, the exploding bank nearby distracts them, and Paris-chan wonders if this is a holiday fireworks. Goten replies that it is not a festival, but it's nothing to be concerned over. (Paris-chan is using VERY polite "women's" language.)

[Commercial Break]

The blond guy is causing more damage and panic until Mr. Satan yells out over this disruption to his city. Satan is getting really bald. He jumps down from the roof that he is on, and wrenches his ankle at the landing. His citizens think that this is a very lame act, until Satan pretends to have been hit by a punch that was too fast for anyone else to see. One guy comments that if the punch was that fast, Satan is in trouble, so Our Savior yells at the blond for damaging the city that he protects. The blond asks if Satan is a Saiya-jin, and Satan repeats the question "you mean, a blond-haired super powerful Saiya-jin?" The blond says "you're not it" and prepares to blow up Satan with his laser vision. Satan evades the blast, but just barely. There is now a big hole in the street. Meanwhile, Paris-chan says that the ice cream was delicious, and Goten tries to decide on what to buy next.
Goten finds Satan, and Our Savior quickly recovers, claiming that he will give his student -- Goten -- a chance to demonstrate how well he understands the training Satan has given him. Goten wants the police to handle the problem, since he is in the middle of a date. Unfortunately, Paris-chan is now talking to the blond hunk. Paris-chan gives the wrong answer, and Goten rushes to save her from the laser attack. Paris-chan is ok, and she mentions that the guy was asking about "Saiya-jin." She's impressed by Goten's strength, while the boy wonders over who could know about Saiya-jin.
Two people in the crowd suddenly step out and try to attack Goten. They laugh stupidly, and rush in -- Goten throws his date into the air, defeats the attackers, and catches Paris-chan. She thinks that the boy is just imitating something that her father used to do when she was a child. The police arrive to take the prisoners, and Satan takes the credit, telling the citizens that the city is safe while he is protecting it. However, another guy in the crowd is suddenly, violently possessed.
Goten wants to continue the date, but feels another enemy's ki. He gets smashed, and says "so, you have a bit of power, eh." But, he fails to stand up when he senses a very strong ki. The new attacker collapses as Baby leaves his body and shows his current new form. Baby has been collecting peoples' energy, and now looks like a silver-skinned teenager with blue eyeballs. Baby comments that Goten's energy feels just like Gokuu's. Paris-chan faints, and is caught by the suddenly gallant Mr. Satan (funny scene.) Goten wants to know who Baby is, and the neo-mutant realizes that the boy is the offspring of little Gokuu -- "How interesting".
Baby declares that he wants Goten's power, and the boy tells Satan to run with the unconscious Paris-chan to a safer place. Satan splits. Goten asks if Baby thinks this is going to be easy, and the mutant powers up a bit. A large part of the city gets smashed, Satan panics and runs faster, and Goten (now floating over the city) is angry at the extensive damage.

Episode #26
(Aired 10/16/96)

Gohan to Goten... Sai-aku no kyoudai Genka!?
Gohan and Goten... The Worst Brotherly Spat!?

Goten comments that Baby's abilities are not bad, as an insult. Then, he is interrupted when his cell phone rings. Paris-chan asks if he is ok, and Goten reverts to his normal telephone chat style, which makes Baby even more pissed. Paris-chan asks about the roaring sound she hears, and Goten evades Baby's bodyslam attack. The phone flies up into the air. Baby hopes to enter Goten's body and get the "Saiya Power". Goten bashes Baby up a bit, comments on how Baby was probably defeated by Gokuu, and catches the falling cell phone behind his back. Paris-chan thinks that Goten is just super, and he says that he's doing this all for her. Satan shouts out more encouragement to his "student". Baby, hiding in his crater below, fires off a bolt-cutter attack that slices open Goten's biceps. Paris-chan asks if he is ok, Goten replies "I'm fine, don't worry about me", and he hangs up. Goten becomes angry at getting injured in front of his date, and goes SSJ. This pleases Baby (who gets to see the extent of Goten's abilities) and impresses Paris-chan (who thinks that her friend looks pretty.) Goten blows up the city (the shockwave causes Paris-chan's skirt to billow and almost exposes her panties for an instant. Her panties may be orange like her hair and part of the rest of her outfit.) The explosion can be seen from space.
Goten thinks that the battle is over, but Baby asks if this is the boy's full ability. Goten fires off a Kamehame-ha. Baby considers this his chance, and he shoots down THROUGH the Kamehame-ha, to Goten's fully exposed wound. The Kamehame-ha flies out into space, and Baby glories over the strength that Trunks had denied him. Bay-ten powers up further, buffeting Mr. Satan with the shockwave. Satan holds on to Paris-chan's waist. Goten approaches them from a cloud of dust. Paris-chan is happy; Satan asks where the "doll-guy" is. Goten frowns, and Satan jumps away from the girl, apologizing. Paris-chan bandages up her friend's arm, asking to continue the date. But, the boy removes the kerchief and throws it on her head as he walks away. Baby could not read Trunks' mind, but he can easily scan Goten's. The neo-mutant realizes that there are several Saiya-jin, and the strongest one is -- Vejiita.
Satan tries to butter up to the boy, but is tossed away. Goten flies off. Our Savior thinks that the boy has changed somehow. Paris-chan misunderstands this to mean that her kerchief had caused the boy's wound to be healed. She is happy, and Satan is stunned at her incredible naivete. Baby thinks that with Vejiita's power, he will be able to take over Trunks, and then ultimately conquer Gokuu. And, on yet another planet, the three heroes and Gill search for the next Dragon Ball. The Ball appears to be located deep in a big lake. A lake occupied by a huge dinosaur. Gokuu crawls under the beast while Pan tells it to spit the Ball out of its mouth. Gokuu is then inside the beast (guess how ;-) ) and he finds the Ball. He pushes his way out through the dinosaur's belly, causing the monster to deflate like a balloon. Later, Pan apologizes to the dinosaur, which now stands 4 inches tall, and puts a Band-Aid on its tummy. The heroes laugh over this turn of events, and they now have the #3 Ball.
Back on the ship, Pan is celebrating in a Mexican dancer's outfit and recording her party on a video tape labeled "Pan's Diary". Trunks happily says "just one more." But Gokuu is depressed, thinking that they should have run into Baby again by this time. Trunks agrees, while Pan believes that Trunks should be happy to never see the body-snatching mutant again. (A close-up of the Dragon Balls shows that they are still missing the #2 Ball.)
On Earth, Piccolo is meditating next to a giant waterfall. He becomes alert on noticing a strange ki.

[Commercial Break]

Chichi is staring at a bunch of clocks, impatient that Goten is slow on reporting in. Bulma replies that this is after all a date, but Chichi is worried that Goten's girlfriend might be doing something bad to her precious boy. Bulma gets a call, telling her that there are guests at the front door. When Bulma turns to talk to her friend, Chichi has vanished. The frantic mother rushes to the lobby (this time, the inside of Capsule Corp. looks like a big hotel or company HQ building) repeating "Goten, Goten". But, the guests are Gohan and his wife Beederu. Chichi smashes into some furniture. Beederu had gotten a call from her father, Mr. Satan, and she and Gohan had decided to come to Capsule Corp. Gohan mentions that Goten might have gotten roughed up, which causes Chichi to go ballistic. Before running off to find his little brother, Gohan asks for a room to put his luggage in. Chichi is still angry, and gets hit in the back of the head when Goten enters the room. Chichi is relieved, but Goten pushes her away and asks where "Vejiita is".
Chichi slaps Goten for not saying "Vejiita-san". Baby contemplates devouring all of these no-power Earthlings, but decides to hold off until he can find his target. Baby follows Earth protocol, and asks where "Vejiita-san" is. Chichi slaps him again for not using the more polite form "Vejiita-san wa dochira desu ka?" Goten shouts out the question again, fully expecting to get slapped once more. Bulma answers that Vejiita had left some time ago, and Baby almost loses his patience. Gohan returns, and Baby thinks that Goten's brother's power would help him take over Vejiita. He sucker punches Gohan, taunting the other man into fighting back, and Chichi tells them that if they are going to bicker that they have to take it outside. Bulma and Beederu both think something is wrong, but Chichi comments that it's ok for brothers to fight each other occasionally. Gohan assures his wife that everything will be fine and he'll be back soon.
Out in the wilds, Gohan says that he held off saying anything to avoid worrying Chichi, but this isn't really Goten. Baby answers in the affirmative, powers up, and attacks. He thinks that maybe Gohan is not so strong after all. Then, when Gohan appears uninjured from the blast, Baby realizes that the man would make a great housing for him. Gohan guesses that something has possessed his brother's body. They fight a little, and Baby wonders why his enemy isn't powering up. Gohan, however, doesn't want to mess up Goten's body to reach the real enemy. Baby challenges him to show his true power, and starts powering up past SSJ level. The resulting energy ball does great damage to the plate tectonics, and Gohan yells out to Goten to stop this. Gohan is forced by the shockwave to go SSJ, and while he is vulnerable during the power-up, Baby switches bodies with him. Baby triumphs.
Then, Piccolo's trademark magic attack zips by Baby-han, and Piccolo (holding Goten's limp body) demands that whatever has entered Gohan's body come back out and fight him. Baby comments on the Namek's low-level energy, and dismisses the Namek as ignorable. Bay-han fires a Kamehame-ha that cuts an "X" into the crater, and seemingly wipes out Piccolo and Goten. Baby decides that Piccolo is out of the picture, and the only challenge left on Earth to face is Vejiita. He bids Vejiita to come to him.

NOTE: With the new DB movie that came out last March, I am forced to acknowledge that "Buruma" is supposed to be spelled "Bulma". Bulma went through the whole movie wearing clothing with her name spelled on it in English. Oh well. I will go back through the older DBGT summaries and update them.

Episode #27
(Aired 10/23/96)

Yabou kansei!? Nottorareta Bejiita
Ambition Achieved!? Vejiita Possessed.

As mentioned in the notes by Ed Gorgon and Wuken, the opening animation has been altered, though the music is the same. We get to see Perfect Baby and SSJ4 Gokuu.

Vejiita and Bra are out driving in the midst of Bra's shopping spree. Bra mentions that this is the first time they've done this, and asks what her daddy bought. He refuses to answer, but it looks like a shaving kit (with a picture of robot-Toriyama shaving on the cover). Then, two goons drive up and ask Bra to dump her "date with the old man" and join them. Vejiita rips out their steering wheel and the goons go off a cliff into the bay. Bra yells out that her father is very strong, and that she is too busy shopping to mess with them (Vejiita is not impressed with her).
At Capsule Corp., Chichi, Bulma and Videl are hovering over the sick form of Goten lying on the couch. He is unconscious and seems to be struggling with something. Chichi doesn't understand what is wrong. Gohan-Baby senses Vejiita and gets up to leave the room. Chichi and Videl want him to stay at least until after supper, but the scholar heads for the door. Videl confronts her husband, but Gohan-Baby issues a spark that blows out some lamps, tells his wife to shut up, and leaves the room. G-B steps on Gohan's glasses, and says that he's found Vegiita. Chichi collapses, yelling for Gokuu to hurry back home. On the CC ship, Gokuu sneezes, not because people are talking about him but because of the cold. Gill has discovered the last Dragon Ball on a frozen planet, and Gokuu is the only one not wearing a warm coat (Gill is wearing it.) He sneezes on Trunks, and Pan tells her father to cover/wipe his nose. (The planet they are going to seems to be called "Rei-to".)
Gohan-Baby is flying over a desert, happy with the great power he's gotten from his new host, and he tells Vejiita to wait for him. In the car, Bra is happy that her father has been with her so long, and predicts that Bulma will be furious with them. Vejiita panic brakes to avoid the flashes in front of them. Bra berates him for this, then sees Gohan standing on a wind mill. Bra can't believe that Gohan is going to attack, but Vejiita can. Gohan-Baby blows up the car, and is pleased at how easily Vejiita avoided the blast. Vejiita asks who the alien is, and Bra is convinced that this is still their friend. She lashes out at Gohan for not apologizing, and wants him to pay for new stuff.
Gohan-Baby realizes that she is also partially Saiya-jin, but Vejiita throws his daughter away into the air before G-B can act. Vejiita tells her to go home, and she tries to argue before giving up and leaving. Gohan-Baby settles for fighting only Vejiita, who asks again who Gohan really is. G-B asks if the "Saiya-jin" has really forgotten him. Vejiita laughs, remembering the "Tsufuru-jin". G-B is happy at this, and attacks. In Capsule Corp., Goten recovers and asks where "Paris-chan" is. Chichi is all over her boy in relief, and he asks for water. Chichi worries over his dry/sore throat. When Goten drinks the water, he goes into spasms. He announces that he has to go outside. Chichi tries to make him stay and rest, and he pushes her away before flying off. Chichi is upset at losing her other son, and Goten seems to be possessed again.

[Commercial Break]

Vejiita remembers that the Tsufuru-jin were lousy fighters, then Gohan-Baby wipes up the road with Vejiita's face. G-B again says that he likes this Saiya-jin's power, and rushes forward to take over Vejiita's body. The Saiya-jin Prince attacks back, saying that he won't be defeated by a Tsufuru-jin, and the two badger each other (Vejiita's enemy is still only Kakarot.) They fire massive energy blasts at each other. The resulting chaos destroys some of the wind mills in this wind mill field. The battle is fast and furious, and Gohan-Baby is pleased that Vejiita is significantly better than Gohan. Goten arrives, and Vejiita tells him to stay out of the way. Goten immediately asks if that is Gohan, and the older brother says "yes, your older brother." Vejiita tells the boy to leave, and Goten does that, then fires an energy ball at the Prince's back. Goten asks Vejiita who it is that he's really here to rescue. Gohan-Baby laughs at Vejiita's reaction.
There is more fighting, before Vejiita is surrounded by the two enemy. Vejiita attacks but keeps missing because, as G-B says, Vejiita can't accurately sense their Ki's anymore. Vejiita starts powering up past SSJ, and G-B goads him on. The energy sphere around the Prince destroys more wind mills and pushes the two enemy away. But, Baby had abandoned his hosts, and the Tsufuru-jin enters Vejiita's body through all of the cuts he has. Vejiita takes a while to realize that he has been invaded. Baby takes pleasure in Vejiita's inability to move, as part of the revenge for all of the dead Tsufuru-jin.
In a flashback, we are told that Planet Plant was a peaceful place until it was rained on by hundreds of Saiya single-person space capsules. Under the full moon, the giant were-monkeys (Ouzaru) took over the planet and destroyed whole cities. King Vejiita (Vejiita's father) killed many of the Tsufuru. The remaining surviving scientist put his soul/essence into a "seed" and fired it into space (where it was found by Dr. Myuu).
Vejiita asks what this has to do with Goten, and it turns out that when Baby enters someone, he leaves an "egg" in the victim. This allows Baby to maintain control after he has switched hosts. This has happened to both Goten and Gohan. Eventually, Vejiita is conquered by his own egg, and Vejiita-Baby looks forward to taking over the entire planet of Earth. The only person Baby intends to kill is -- Gokuu.
And, on the ice planet, a semi-frozen Gokuu falls through a snow bank and locates the last Dragon Ball (#2). The three adventurers happily leave the ice planet to return home. On Earth, Vejiita-Baby's energy is causing the wind mills to turn. And, the narrator asks Gokuu to hurry back, although it won't be the same planet anymore.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: The closing animation is completely different.

Episode #28
(Aired 10/30/96)

Gokuu kaeru... Chikyuu wa zenbu ora no teki!?
Gokuu Returns... "All of Earth is My Enemy!?"

The ship nears Earth, and Gokuu and Pan rejoice. Pan is starting to claim all of the credit for finding both the Dragon Balls and Gill. Gokuu wants to stop at Kami-sama's tower first, so they do. Gokuu begins by complementing Dende for looking healthy, but Pan interrupts to hand over the Balls. Dende knows better, and Pan berates the Namek for doubting that she'd done all of the work. Then there is an argument over what Shenlon will be asked to do -- Pan wants Gokuu to be returned to normal, while everyone else wants to save the Earth. (Gokuu has no problem with remaining young, and doesn't fear Chichi's reaction when she finds out.) After one wish, the Balls will fly away and take one year to recover (after that, whatever problem that people want to fix that is over one year old will not be fixable via the Balls).
Finally, Pan gives the Balls to Mr. Poppo, and the heroes prepare to return home. Gill and Trunks plan to return to Capsule Corp., and Pan and Gokuu plan to go back to their countryside house. (Pan wants Gill to tell her version of how things went on their trip.) And as a reward for helping so much, Pan gives Gill her scarf and her "first kiss". Gill blushes. They leave, and Dende evilly grins as he plans to give the Balls to "Baby-sama."
An angry crowd has gathered outside Mr. Satan's mansion. Buu realizes that Gokuu and Pan have returned, and Satan -- hidden safely inside a cyst in Buu -- rejoices. Satan wants to fight, while Buu was expecting to run away. Satan wants to go outside to meet Gokuu, then is told that the heroes are still out in space. The two leave the mansion, with Buu blowing the mob out of the way.
Satan tries to figure out this business about the "Tsufuru-jin egg", and Buu tells him that Baby's egg is inside nearby; Satan sees it throbbing in its own cyst. Buu hates the feeling and spits the egg out. They are now confronted by another mob. Satan asks if anyone in the mob is controlled by Baby. Buu says "no", and adds that the humans are all at normal human strength. Satan asks to be spit out to fight the crowd. He quickly beats them up, which only makes the mob mad. Buu has to rescue Satan, and they fly off.
At the Son home, Gokuu and Pan receive the cold shoulder treatment from Videl and Chichi. There's lots of food on the table, but Gokuu is not allowed to eat, and Pan's bragging is ignored. Chichi and Videl act like zombies, cooking and washing dishes. In Capsule Corp., Trunks and Gill arrive to an empty garage. Trunks can understand this treatment from Vejiita, but not from Bulma. Suddenly, Gill yells out "Danger, danger!"

[Commercial Break]

Trunks thinks that the robot is just sensing Vejiita, and believes that this is indeed the correct response to the Saiyan Prince. They start heading into the building, and Vejiita is there to tell them that they are late. Vejiita already knows where the Dragon Balls are, and tells his son to come inside. They reach Bulma's room. Bulma says "You are a bad boy -- Vejiita, punish him." She leaves the room, and Baby reveals himself a little bit. Trunks doesn't recognize the monster, but Gill attacks him with a pair of missiles. Baby calls Gill a traitor; Trunks realizes what is happening and tells Gill to escape. The robot launches two more rockets. Vejiita-Baby easily destroys the rockets and blows Gill against the far wall. The robot lies on the ground, covered in sparks.
Vejiita-Baby announces Trunks' new birthday, reminding him of their last encounter. Trunks also has an egg in him. The egg is activated, and Trunks struggles against it. Back in the country, Gokuu complains that Chichi is still angry, and Pan is growing more confused. Then, Goten and Gohan arrive, saying that the food is for them. Gokuu realizes that something is wrong, as the brothers keep talking about him as "Saiya-jin". They decide to switch to "that form" and go SSJ to welcome Gokuu and Pan back. Pan panicks, asking Videl for help. Chichi tells her boys to kill Gokuu. The power-up blows the roof from the house. Gokuu asks if they are worried about Earth blowing up, and the two brothers answer "Earth? What about it?" They attack.
Pan asks if this is her reward for trying so hard to save Earth. Her father replies by firing an energy blast at her. Gokuu intercepts the blast, and they are thrown to the ground. Pan passes out, thinking that she has been a bad child and had done something wrong. Gokuu fails to correct her thinking and decides to fight back. He asks if this is really Gohan, and the man acts innocent. He replies "from the looks of it, yes." Goten says "I am Goten Son." He shoots Gokuu from behind. Gokuu easily blocks the blast and says that he didn't think Goten was that kind of person. Gohan replies that Gokuu, a "Saiya-jin" shouldn't talk. The boy answers that he is an Earthling, not a Saiya-jin. Goten doesn't care, and the brothers start punching their dad. Gokuu gets mad and gets serious. But, Gohan and Goten withstand the beating, cackle, and prepare to blast away again. Gokuu had given them their chance and he goes into Kamehame-ha.
Satan shouts out for Gokuu to stop. With Satan is Buu, holding Pan. Satan tells Gokuu that Baby has taken over the two Saiyan-halfs, and has controlled the rest of humanity in the same way. Gokuu thinks about this, while Gohan and Goten wait expectantly. Behind our hero is also Vejiita-Baby. V-B wants to know what Gokuu will do now that he knows that Vejiita has also been controlled. The narrator tells us that the revenge battle between Saiya-jin and Tsufuru-jin is about to begin.

Episode #29
(Aired 11/06/96)

Chou Yabai!? Suupaa Saiyajin 3 yabureru!!
This is Really Bad!? Supper Saiya-jin 3 Fails!!

The Son house is in ruins, and Satan is waiting to see if Gokuu will fall for the trap. Vejiita-Baby goads our hero by claiming that all of Earth will be controlled by Tsufuru-jin. Satan yells out that Baby can't get into Buu, and therefore Baby is lying. Gokuu comments that Satan is the same as ever, and Our Savior yells back that this is why Gokuu should listen to him and not fight. Vejiita-Baby now understands "the Fat One's" secret and decides to simply kill him. V-B blasts the Earth. Buu narrowly rescues Satan before flying off. Gokuu asks Buu to see to Pan; Buu agrees. Satan taunts Vejiita-Baby for not killing him, and Buu uses Its magic to turn Satan and Pan into cookies and eats them.
Gohan intends to shoot Buu, but Vejiita-Baby stops him and reminds the brothers that the real target is Gokuu. V-B asks if Gokuu can fight his own children, which is not a problem for our hero. V-B and Gokuu trade punches a bit, and it looks like Vejiita has gotten much stronger lately. One of V-B's blasts creates a new inland sea. Then, Trunks and Bra fly up. Gokuu warns Trunks of the danger. Unfortunately, it's too late. Both Trunks and Bra show a serious case of red eye (proving that Baby controls them.) Trunks claims that he is not the same person he was the day before, and announces that Baby is his master.
Our hero realizes that Kami-sama has also been controlled and that all of Earth is his enemy. He doesn't understand how this is happening, but he accepts it as is. Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Bra move in to pummel Gokuu, but Vejiita-Baby tells them to not interfere. This is fine by Gokuu too. Vejiita-Baby powers up and Gokuu goes SSJ3. Vejiita-Baby looks very punk now, while Gokuu looks like a mini version of his old SSJ3 self. V-B asks if that is the best that Gokuu can do, or should he wait a little longer? They fight. The planet gets trashed, and V-B easily holds his ground to Gokuu's concern.
Gokuu has not been this excited over a fight in a long time, but on his next pass, he loses his powers. Vejiita-Baby asks what's wrong, adding that SSJ3 is over now. The boy guesses that his small body doesn't have the power to hold the SSJ3 level. Vejiita-Baby fires off another blast, to send Gokuu to Hell.

But, Gokuu isn't finished yet. He wants to go mano-a-mano. Vejiita-Baby beats up the boy a bit, and our hero keeps chuckling with each new pounding -- a gleam growing in his eye. Eventually, unable to move, Gokuu admits that Vejiita-Baby is strong. The monster claims that he can still get stronger, and wants to show off before killing the boy once and for all. V-B tells Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Bra to give him their Saiya power. The four link hands and revolve around their master. They go red eye, and the skies go just as red. V-B goes to Super Baby -- Vejiita's body gets bulkier and becomes part of a uniform with heat-shedding fins. The four run out of power, and Super Vejiita-Baby revels in the glow.
Gokuu keeps chuckling, saying that he can feel SV-B's great power -- but he still won't lose to Baby. SV-B starts pounding him again. SV-B demands the power from all his other Tsufuru-human subjects in order to attain his perfect form. SV-B bulks up more, and his uniform is now a black layer over his skin, with yellow fins and boots, and a Freeza-style fighting jacket over his chest. The excess energy forms the "Tsufuru Black Revenge". Perfect Vejiita-Baby calls out "Revenge Death Ball" and propels it at Gokuu. The boy curses, unable to move. The Revenge Death Ball sinks into the Earth and blows up. Somewhere in the artic wastes, Buu sees the dark red cloud on the horizon.
Vejiita-Baby laughs, having his final revenge. Buu tells the two cysts inside him that the loud explosion they heard came from a big blast, and that Gokuu's ki has disappered. Gokuu seems to be dead. Vejiita-Baby plans to repopulate the universe with Tsufuru-jin. And, the narrator asks that if Gokuu is dead, who will save the Earth?

Episode #30
(Aired 11/13/96)

Gokuu shoumetsu!? Ora wa shinjimatta da
Gokuu Has Passed On!? "I'm Dead."

Buu spits out Satan -- he revels in his new freedom until succumbing to gravity. Pan is crying over Gokuu's death. Vejiita-Baby takes his position on a floating stone throne, and Dende hands over the Dragon Balls. Since he has everything else that he wants, Vejiita-Baby summons Shenlon and wishes for a planet to be placed next to Earth that is just like Plant used to be. (Buu asks if it is night already.) Planet is created complete with buildings, but with no people. Shenlon bids them farewell and the Balls fly away.
Pan collapses, realizing that Earth will explode when one year is up, and Satan panicks at this thought. Buu is more blase, having been through this before, and thinking that things can be fixed afterwards. Satan tells Pan that while they are still alive, that she should remain cheerful. But, her silent cries are heard by Gokuu and he wakes up. A small blue-skinned, big headed dwarf named Suguro appears and hassles Gokuu ("Suguro-ku" could be "6 again", or "I am the best.").
The rest of this exchange has Gokuu claiming that he is "Gokuu", not some kid. Suguro is the host of a parody of Japanese game shows. Gokuu isn't dead yet, but that will be determined by the outcome of the game. They each take turns throwing a die and moving on a 3-D game board. Suguro is friends with the creature posing as the die, so he keeps landing on the good squares, while Gokuu hits the bad ones (often, the bad squares include having to answer questions that Gokuu doesn't understand.) But, while the penalty for a wrong answer is death, Gokuu keeps evading the traps. (Suguro has been in this purgatory for millions of years. There haven't been any visitors for a long while, which has given Suguro lots of free time.) Gokuu initially thinks that the game will be fun, which is why he decides to play along.

[Commercial Break]

Turns out that Kaiou-bit had tried to rescue Gokuu in the previous episode, but the Revenge Death Ball had disrupted his teleport and he'd lost Gokuu while warping. Kaiou-bit teleports to Dai Kaiou-shin's planet (where the old coot is fishing) to ask for help. However, even Dai Kaiou-shin can't do anything about Suguro-ku (the name of the purgatory), so he tells Kaiou-bit to stop interferring with his fishing.
On Earth, Vejiita-Baby and his minions gather at Capsule Corp., where Bulma is unveiling her giant machine (purpose is to get the minions to New Plant, but the operation is unknown. The machine looks like a big black version of the Capsule Corp. building.) Pan sees Trunks with the others and yells out, but Satan stops her and says that Trunks has also been controlled. Pan cries some more.
In the first square of the game, Gokuu has to return to START. In the second, he has to answer questions he doesn't understand. In the third, he has to keep from shedding tears -- from chopped onions and from a giant hypodermic needle wielded by Chichi. Later, he has to jump to floating islands over a lava pit on command. Gokuu asks why he's the only one to get the bad squares, and Suguro answers that it's a matter of luck.
The narrator sums up the situation, and Vejiita-Baby claims that the galaxy is now his for the taking. The narrator yells out for Gokuu to hurry -- this is no time for games.

Episode #31
(Aired 12/11/96)

Atto odoroku!? Suguroku kuukan dai houkai
What the...!? The Sky of Suguro-ku Studio is Collapsing

Gokuu evades more lava by jumping up to a higher section of the game route, and Suguro asks him what he's doing there. The blue-skinned one reminds the boy of where the goal is, and Gokuu returns to throw the die again. This time, the die falls down to the lava by accident. It stops just above the molten rock and screams back up to where Gokuu is. Gokuu heard the die say "it's hot", while Suguro claims that dice can't talk. The boy prepares to throw the die at the lava again, and it yells "stop this!", while turning into a green raccoon with a pointy head. It runs back to the blue guy, calling him "father". Suguro tells the raccoon to become a dice again so he can reach the goal.
Suguro panics and reverts to his true shape as a larger green raccoon (tanuki == "Japanese raccoon." Tanuki are famous in Japanese folk tales as being shape-changing tricksters.) Gokuu calls Suguro a fake, and all of the board's game pieces start chanting "fake, fake." One voice calls out that it hates fakes, and the building begins breaking up as a form of punishment. Gokuu rescues the two tanuki and heads for the goal. Suguro asks why the boy is rescuing them, adding that they (the two frauds) are "Space Tanuki." Gokuu doesn't care who they are -- and he nearly makes it to the goal before it also collapses. Gokuu discovers that he can power up now, and he flies after the two tanuki as they fall to some distant "floor" below. The boy catches them, and prepares Kamehame-ha while Suguro wonders how such a small body can hold so much power. Suguro panics over the upcoming "showdown", then tells Gokuu to go for it. The boy fires away, blowing a hole in the black dome surrounding the disintegrating playing field.
Kaiou-bit senses Gokuu's ki again, as falling rock threatens the boy. Kaiou-bit teleports in and then back to Dai Kaiou-shin's planet, carrying all three passengers. Gokuu notices that Dai Kaiou-shin hasn't changed since they last met, while Kaiou-bit comments that Gokuu has changed a lot recently. Suguro thanks them for saving him and his son. Gokuu asks why they are on Dai Kaiou-shin's planet.

[Commercial Break]

Satan and Buu watch on as the new Tsufuru-jin start boarding the big Capsule Corp. ship. Satan almost gives them away as he complains about Videl's having been possessed as well. Pan discovers Gill's broken body, and cries over the robot's crushed shell. She puts it in her pack and put her scarf back on her head (she'd given it to Gill as a present.) Pan returns to Satan, and says that they're going to go rescue her parents. Satan loves the idea, but he has no idea how to do this without being discovered. Pan smiles.
On Dai Kaiou-shin's planet, Kaiou-bit looks in the old coot's crystal ball, telling Gokuu what has been happening on Earth. Gokuu is surprised to hear that Dende had been controlled by Baby, and Dai Kaiou-shin tries making a joke about "God" being possessed. Kaiou-bit misses the punchline. Gokuu wants to go to Earth to fight, but Dai Kaiou-shin tells him that he's too weak to beat Baby right now, not being able to hold SSJ-3. Gokuu objects until Kaiou-bit suggests that they might be able to train the boy.
While on Earth, a handsome Buu admires Itself in a mirror. It jumps in line, and entrances the girl ahead of It. The guy behind them complains, and turns out to be Kuririn. The old runt doesn't recognize Buu, and dismisses It's statement that It is carrying 2 people inside It (Pan and Satan are safely encysted) as just being strange.
Kuririn acts gallant, allowing Buu to stay in line. Bulma comes along, counting out 100 people. Buu is the final one allowed onto the ship to go to Planet Plant. Kuririn yells out that he wants to get onboard, too. #18 and Marron also get stranded on Earth. The ship lifts off, and #18 insults Kuririn as really being "a Kuririn."
Gokuu's training consists of turning a giant coffee grinder with one arm. The boy thinks that the old coot is just doing this to get some ground coffee. He complains that his butt itches, which is all part of the old coot's plan. Gokuu starts grinding coffee really fast, with the coot telling him to go faster.
The Capsule Corp. ship lands on Plant, and the travellers see Baby and start cheering for him. Buu slips away, changes his face back to normal, and lets Pan and Satan back out. Pan has medicine that she thinks will make Baby's egg leave her mother's body. She gives a vial each to Buu and Satan, and runs off. Satan would rather wait and do more planning. The Tsufuru-jin spot Pan and yell "kill Baby's enemy!" Pan throws pills at the Tsufuru-jin until Videl flies in and kicks Pan to the ground. Pan wants her mother to take one of the pills, but gets slapped away.
Pan's parents berate her for not accepting Baby's egg; calling Pan a problem child. Baby floats down, saying that a problem child like this
should be killed, and Videl and Gohan agree. Gokuu wonders how much more coffee has to be ground, as Dai Kaiou-shin looks at porno mags. Gokuu sees via the crystal ball that Pan is about to die, and he wants to rescue her. The old coot can't help them yet. And, Gohan takes his daughter by the throat and prepares to blast her to death.
Suddenly, Gohan is knocked away and Pan is saved. The narrator asks who it was that did this, adding that it was Uubu.

NOTE: V-Jump confirms that the Perfect Vejiita/Baby combination is called "Vejiita-Baby".

Episode #32
(Aired 01/08/96)

Gokuu o kaese!! Ikari no senshi Uubu
Gokuu Returns!! Angry Fighter Uubu
------------------------------------------
Note that there was a DBZ special on 12/18/96. The first part was a repeat of "100 Billion Power Fighter"; the second Cooler movie. The second part was a list of final moments -- scenes where Gokuu defeats Freeza, and Buu, ending with Gokuu taking on Vejiita-Baby. The 12/25/97 episode was apparently pre-empted by a seasonal special.
------------------------------------------
New Character
Kudagari -- Suguro's shape-changing son. A space tanuki. Named here for the first time.

Baby comments on Uubu's being yet another Earthling that had been overlooked by his eggs. Uubu tells Pan that he'd been monitoring events, and had noticed that Gokuu's ki had disappeared. He asks Pan if Gokuu is dead. Baby takes credit for killing Gokuu, and Uubu flashes back to his last fight with Gokuu in Dende's tower. At the end of the fight, Gokuu had promised to meet with Uubu again one year later. Uubu is angry that Baby has prevented Gokuu from keeping his promise, and he powers up, flying to confront Baby.
Pan tries to stop Uubu, but has to face her own parents instead. Videl and Gohan want Pan to go with them and join Baby. The Tsufuru-jin that ate Pan's pills are groaning with stomach aches, while Buu stands in the middle of them and says "Uubu." Baby plans on killing Uubu, and they fight. The resulting damage to buildings causes people to run for cover. Baby believes that Uubu is no stronger than Gokuu, and expects an easy victory. He prepares a larger energy ball attack, and Uubu fires off a quick blast to smash Baby into the wall. Uubu rushes in to keep fighting, but Gohan, Goten, and Trunks fly up to protect their master. This only angers Baby further, since it implies that the three think he's weak and will lose against Uubu. Baby blasts the interlopers, sending them through the far wall and somewhere outside the city. Uubu is surprised by this reaction. Pan cries for her father.
On Dai Kaiou-shin's planet, Gokuu is watching the crystal ball, and he again asks to be returned to the battle. The old coot drinks some coffee (the cup has his picture on it) and complains about the bad taste. He asks if Gokuu is willing to undertake a very painful and stressful form of power up, and the boy says "sure." The old coot then tells the boy to drop his pants. Gokuu asks why, and the old coot strips him to reveal a skin-covered stubby protrusion at the base of Gokuu's spine. Dai Kaiou-shin tells Kaiou-bit that Gokuu's tail is starting to grow out, and must be assisted to accellerate the process. Without the tail, Gokuu's powers will be limited. The old coot wants Kaiou-bit to get a pair of pliers, which Kaiou-bit doesn't have. Suguro volunteers to help, and tells his boy -- Kudagari -- to get started. The little tanuki happily turns into a large pair of pincers. Gokuu is dismayed to learn that is tail is going to be painfully extracted from his butt, but he eventually agrees to it. Dai Kaiou-shin grins evilly.

[Commercial Break]

Baby and Uubu keep fighting, looking about even-up. Baby compliments Uubu a bit, then says that it's not enough to defeat him. They go into an energy blast showdown, with Baby upping his power output. Uubu is overpowered, evades most of the blast, gets hit, and drops down to the feet of Pan, Buu and Satan. Baby is annoyed that the fight is over so soon. Pan gets pissed that not only has her father been controlled, but Uubu has fallen as well. She attacks, and has absolutely no effect on the monster. She puts Satan into a panic, though. Satan tells Buu that with Videl under Baby's control, Pan is all that he has left. Buu comments that Satan and Uubu's most precious people are in danger, and It catches Pan when Baby bats her out of the sky. Buu says that the unconscious girl is ok, and hands her to Satan. Satan wants to escape now, as Baby prepares a Revenge Death Ball to kill Uubu with. Satan asks what is happening on the ground as Buu flies away with him. Buu answers that the Tsufuru-jin are giving their energy to Baby, just as they did when Gokuu was defeated.
Buu flies Pan and Satan to a safe distance from the city, and tells the Savior of the World that It loves him. There's a flashback showing the scene when Satan had beat up the two humans that had shot Buu's puppy; which is when Buu and Satan had become friends. But, while Buu and Satan are friends, Buu feels a stronger link to Uubu. It flies off to save Uubu, waving goodbye to Satan.
Baby launches the RDB to finish off Uubu just like he'd wasted Gokuu. Uubu can't move, but Buu arrives to inhale the RDB. The RDB blows up inside of Buu, and destroys part of the city. Baby thinks that Uubu is dead either way, and he hops in Bulma's skimmer to go to her control tower.
Uubu is still alive, but hurting badly, and he asks who it was that saved him. He doesn't recognize Buu at all. Buu's spirit appears, and Uubu feels that he's known Buu from a long time ago. Buu tells him of his family line. There was a thin Buu, an evil Buu, and a Fat Buu. Then came Uubu. Now, there will be one more version of Buu: They merge.
Uubu is healed, and he's happy at the greater power he now feels (Ultimate Uubu is very buff, and wears a black vest, and white pants tucked into yellow boots.) He thinks he can defeat Baby now. On Dai Kaiou-shin's planet, Gokuu is complaining at the pain as the others pull out his tail (about two inches of furry tail can be seen now).
Baby is on parade, and his people cheer him on as Bulma drives their master in the skimmer. Baby senses Uubu's approach, and they prepare to fight again. The narrator tells us that Vejiita-Baby and the changed Uubu are ready to fight, and hopes that Gokuu's tail will be extracted soon.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: A long time ago, there was a powerful being named "Kaiou-shin", and his assistant, "Kibit". When they merged, Toriyama never really gave them a name, so I called the new creature "Kaiou-bit". In DBGT episode 32, Dai Kaiou-shin refers to Kaiou-bit as "Kibito". Kibito seems to be the same name as "Kibit". I don't know what the correct name should be. Until I get a good answer, I will keep using "Kaiou-bit".

Episode #33
(Aired 01/15/96)

Kurae Bebii!! Shinsei Uubu hissatsu kousen!!
Eat This, Baby! New Uubu's Killing Light Ray!!

Gokuu is still in pain, as the others struggle to pull his tail out. The boy asks what is happening on the crystal ball, and escapes the pincers to get a better look. Impressed at Uubu's new power, Gokuu grabs a boulder and asks the old coot to pull out his tail faster. The old coot asks for Suguro's help, and the space tanuki turns into a rope to tie Gokuu in place. Then, Kaiou-bit, the old coot, and Suguro (a continuity error here?) keep yanking as Gokuu keeps yells in pain.
Baby tells his people to move back. Uubu starts bulking up. Baby is expecting to have some real fun this time, but Uubu's new powers surprise him and he gets pounded. Uubu announces that he's merged with Buu, and slams Baby into the ground. Uubu tries to turn Baby into chocolate, but Baby escapes. Lots of bystanders get converted instead. Uubu apologizes and promises to turn the people back into humans later.
Uubu attacks with a neat series of guided energy beams that turn into a tornado before slamming towards Baby. Baby and Uubu go into another energy beam showdown. Meanwhile, Gokuu tells the others to stop pulling, because he has a better idea. In the next scene, Dai Kaiou-shin is complaining about being tied to the boulder himself, and Kaiou-bit is asking what the idea is. Gokuu tells the old coot to grab his tail with the pincers, powers up a bit, and starts walking foward at his own pace. The tail begins to emerge inch by inch. The tail reaches full length, Kaiou-bit comments on this, the old coot lets go of the pincers, and Gokuu goes flying away to smash into a distant boulder. Using binoculars, Kaiou-bit announces that they've finally succeeded. Gokuu happily waves his tail.

[Commercial Break]

The Tsufuru-jin worry about their master, and Baby says that he's done playing. Uubu's blast is returned back at him, and he starts changing. Kaiou-bit teleports to Planet Plant with Gokuu, and they try to locate Uubu. Uubu turns into chocolate, falls to the ground, and is eaten by Baby. Gokuu flies up, upset that he didn't arrive in time to save his friend. Baby comments on Gokuu's still being alive.
They taunt each other again, and Gokuu shows his tail to prove that he can defeat Baby now. Baby is not impressed, so Gokuu goes SSJ-3. They fight again, and Gokuu still can't accomplish much. Baby says that the boy is weak, grabs the tail, and flings Gokuu into the ground to make a long trench. Gokuu yells out to ask Dai Kaiou-shin what's wrong. The old coot doesn't know. Gokuu smashes into a boulder, passes out and powers down. Baby thinks that it's over, and flies closer.
Gokuu rolls over on his back, and curses at being too weak. Kaiou-bit and Dai Kaiou-shin try to figure out what the problem is. Gokuu stares up at Earth, wishing that he could protect it. He thinks about all of his friends, and how he can't save them. Then, his tail begins to twitch, and his heart starts speeding up in reaction to the light from the Full Earth. Gokuu begins transforming into a were-monkey, to the joy of Kaiou-bit and Dai Kaiou-shin. This time, the transformation includes a power up, and lots of damage to the countryside. Baby doesn't understand what's happening.
Gokuu starts out as a giant brown were-monkey, and keeps changing to become a giant golden were-monkey (ougon oozaru). Using Vejiita's memories, Baby realizes that the light from the Full Earth has turned Gokuu into an oozaru. The Narrator asks if Gokuu's long-awaited change-over is enough to defeat Baby.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: V-Jump magazine implies that turning into a giant golden were-monkey (oozaru) is the base from which Gokuu can continue on to SSJ4. However, Vejiita-Baby can also become a golden oozaru.

More on the Ougon Ouzaru (Golden Giant Monkey):
V-Jump issue #3 (1997) describes in a little more detail things that won't be mentioned in the TV series for a while. First and foremost, Gokuu is NOT becoming Super Saiya-jin 4. He is becoming Super Gokuu 4.
Basically, the nature of SSJ1 to SSJ3 revolves around the length and color of the hair, plus the amount of bulk on the body. But, Gokuu's hair is black again, and he essentially looks like he did as an adult. The differences being that now, most of his body is covered in red fur, and his eyes are also outlined in red. And, he has his tail.
According to V-Jump, Gokuu-4 may actually be the true Legendary Super Saiya-jin. Since Saiya-jin never pulled out their tails, it seems likely that if a Saiya-jin went ballistic, it would be during the Ouzaru phase. And, Gokuu's going ballistic before, (SSJ1) occurred when he didn't have his tail.
Either way, the only way to accomplish Gokuu-4 is first, to have his tail extracted from his body again (regrown). Next, look at the full moon/Earth/whatever and turn into a golden were-monkey (not a normal occurance, since most Saiya-jin Ouzaru have brown fur). Finally, make the power up (which involves either great rage, or longing) to Gokuu-4.
Gokuu-4 is a LOT more powerful than SSJ-3 is. But, since Vejiita-Baby can also become a Ougon Ouzaru, there is a chance that Vejiita-Baby can still remain stronger than Gokuu-4 is.

Episode #34
(Aired 01/22/97)

Henshin Shippai!? Gokuu no Oozaru dai abare!
The Transformation Fails!? Giant Ape Gokuu's Rampage!

Gokuu goes crazy, and Vejiita-Baby remembers the destruction rendered on Plant by the old Saiya-jin. He refuses to lose to a Saiya-jin again. He tries a Revenge Death Ball, but Gokuu interrupts him and bashes him senseless.
Pan feels a ki, and thinking that it is her father's, she flies to the scene of the fighting, leaving Satan confused on the ground (Satan still can not sense the energy of other people). Vejiita-Baby wakes up, pissed. Gokuu has fun wrecking buildings with Vejiita-Baby's body (Gokuu has a guided flame that he can breathe on people.) Pan flies with Satan to the city, and she wonders why Gokuu has turned into a monkey. Satan believes that Pan is mistaken, and that this giant monkey is just some stranger blowing stuff up. Chichi, Bulma, and Videl are trapped underground with a bunch of other Tsufuru-jin, and they complain about the problems that the Saiya-jin is causing them. On their planet, Dai Kaiou-shin and Kaiou-bit discuss what is happening, while the old coot is speculating on why Gokuu has no control while in his current Ougon Oozaru (Golden Giant Monkey) form. They still think that Gokuu should be reaching SSJ4 while in SSJ3 form.
Pan tries to stop Gokuu, but he attacks her. Gokuu creates a volcano in the ground, runs to a safe distance, and pounds his chest.

[Commercial Break]

Suguro's friend (who had been the tricky dice from the game) is a small shape-changer that looks a little like Suguro does now. Suguro asks his friend to turn into a pair of scissors so that Kaiou-bit can teleport in and snip off Gokuu's tail. But, Dai Kaiou-shin yells at them. The old coot wants to wait until Gokuu can defeat Vejiita-Baby (which is barely possible right now.) Maybe this is how Gokuu with turn SSJ4, but Dai Kaiou-shin doesn't understand how it might happen.
Gokuu, meanwhile, is creating a whole chain of volcanoes, and yelling "yatta" ("I did it!") in a high-pitched monkey voice. He sees the Earth again (first reflected in a pool, then again directly in the sky). He wanders off. Vejiita-Baby decides to use Vejiita's abilities to fight Gokuu. Pan flies after her father, and Satan lags far behind. The monkey tries to keep climbing the mountain to reach Earth, but he can't go any farther after reaching the top. Pan comments that Gokuu misses Earth. Gokuu doesn't recognize her and hits her to the ground. Pan's gi falls out of her pack, and she remembers when she had been in her first Tenkai-ichi Budoukai. She shows her gi to Gokuu, and her blows her away. A photo floats out of a pocket in the gi, and Gokuu looks at it. It is a picture of the family at the beach, taken when Pan was a baby. Pan flashes back to the fun they'd had at that time.
She tries to make the monkey remember, and cries from sadness. The monkey licks her tears, and looks from her to the photo, and back. He is confused. Then he pushes the girl out of the way of his view of Earth. He starts powering up -- turning into a black haired man with lots of muscles, and covered in red fur. He screams a lot, and there is lightning all around him.
Pan doesn't understand what is happening, and Baby is concerned at the ki level he is feeling.

Episode #35
(Aired 01/29/97)

Saikyou! Gokuu ga suupaa Saiya-jin 4 ni!!
Final Strength! Gokuu Becomes Super Saiya-jin 4!!

Gokuu continues to yell, and lightning flashes around him as he changes. His true self breaks through, and the mountain he is on collapses. In the rubble is Gokuu 4 (He looks like the adult Gokuu, with a little more muscle, long black hair, red fur over his torso, and red lining his eyes.) Pan freaks over the new change, thinking that it is really cool. Dai Kaiou-shin celebrates, claiming that this is his responsibility. Pan complains about all the destruction that Gokuu made. Satan hopes that Gokuu is now strong enough to defeat Baby, and Gokuu comments that his strength may be enough. He senses Vejiita-Baby's ki and flies off, leaving Satan to care for Pan (ignoring Pan’s questions about who he is now.)
Vejiita-Baby is trying to figure out why Vejiita's body is not turning into a were-monkey when he looks at the full Earth, and Bulma says that he is missing his tail. Gokuu busts into Capsule Corp., and Bulma runs away. Gokuu calls her name. As a Tsufuru-jin, Bulma turns, sneers, and condemns him to Hell. Vejiita-Baby and Gokuu fight. Dai Kaiou-shin wonders why Gokuu isn't fighting full-out. Gokuu lets himself get punched up, then complains that Vejiita-Baby's blows are weak. Vejiita-Baby goes into a rage and creates a big Revenge Death Ball. Gokuu just stands on the ground, watching as the huge black star inches towards him.

[Commercial Break]

The Ball crushes into the ground and explodes. Dai Kaiou-shin panics, and Vejiita-Baby is panting heavily. Vejiita-Baby can't believe his eyes when he sees Gokuu standing on a pillar in the middle of the big crater. Dai Kaiou-shin complains about the shock to his heart just now. Gokuu tells Vejiita-Baby that V-B can not beat him now. V-B freaks. Gokuu does some damage to Vejiita-Baby, and Bulma panics that her master is going to get killed. V-B tries to get Gokuu to remember that Vejiita is going to die too. Gokuu comments that Baby still doesn’t understand that Saiya-jin live to fight, and accept death as a side-effect. They fight. Bulma calls out that she's about to help her husband, using a focus multiplier to take the Earth's light and magnify it enough to turn V-B into a were-monkey even without the tail. Gokuu is about to kill Vejiita-Baby with Kamehame-ha, and Bulma turns on the multiplier. Vejiita-Baby isn't ready, but he turns into a were-monkey anyway. Dai Kaiou-shin notices that the new golden monkey DOES have a tail, and he doesn't know what this will mean.
Baby trashes his own planet, and easily bats Gokuu out of the sky. Gokuu can't believe golden oozaru Vejiita-Baby's power, and it looks like this just might be the warm-up to SSJ4 Baby. Bulma calls out for Vejiita-Baby to kill the evil Gokuu.

Episode #36
(Aired 02/05/97)

Fujimi no kaibutsu!? Kyouaku oozaru bebii
Immortal Monster!? Atrocious Giant Monkey Baby

Golden Oozaru Baby, tail in full view, is burning up his city. Bulma is stunned at what is happening to her Tsufuru planet. She runs outside her tower. Satan is trying to climb to safety, and falls on his face. Baby finds Satan and Pan, and Pan has to fly her grandfather out of the way. Pan blasts Baby, to no effect. Gokuu taps Baby on the shoulder, and reminds him of who the big ape's enemy really is; they fight. Then, Gokuu zips over to talk to Pan for a moment. As far as they can tell, Baby now has the mentality of a monkey. Gokuu knows of only one way to keep fighting the monkey, while reducing the risk to everyone else. He talks out loud to let the Kaiou-shins know that he is going to teleport to the Dai Kaiou-shin planet, with Baby.
Gokuu tries to make the teleport, but Baby tries a new attack and aborts the teleport. Oozaru Baby talked during the attack, giving away the charade. The one that turned into a giant ape is Vejiita -- Baby is still the one in charge. Baby was just destroying his own planet for the fun of it. They fight more, and Baby gloats over having more power than Gokuu does. The camera pulls back to show the explosions around the city. And, Bulma is very pleased.

[Commercial Break]

On Dai Kaiou-shin's planet, the Kaiou's try to guess the outcome of the battle. Baby gets a bit banged up, and then gets pissed. He uses Vejiita's finger blast to blow up the city, apparently unable to sense Gokuu's presence some distance away. Satan is trying to find Videl, but Baby does so first. Baby decides to kill Videl and Chichi, and Gokuu has to zip in to take the women to safety -- over where Satan and Pan are.
Baby fires off a blast aimed at Earth. Gokuu tries to use Kamehame-ha to intercept it, but fails. On Earth, many Tsufuru-jin are carrying on normal lives. Maron is out shopping, and Kuririn has to carry her packages. Looks like Maron has become a very spoiled brat. The blast hits Baby City (probably killing everyone.) Baby is amused, and Gokuu is super pissed that innocent people were needlessly wiped out. Gokuu announces "Times 10" Kamehame-ha, and fires away. He apologizes to the memory of Vejiita, for killing the Saiya Prince. But, Baby declares himself to be immortal now (probably because he'd become an Oozaru without following normal channels).
Baby's turn -- he blasts Gokuu with Super Jaikou; Earth is in the path of the attack. Gokuu takes the blast full on. When the dust clears, Gokuu appears to be dead. Baby is about to blow up his city some more, and Bulma is really happy about everything. However, much of the Planet Plant city has been vaporized, and Trunks, Gohan, and Goten are lying on the ground unconscious.

Episode #37
(Aired 02/12/97)

Souzetsu!! Bebii to Gokuu dabura KO!!
?? !! Baby and Gokuu -- Double KO!!

Gokuu is still alive, but hurting. Golden Oozaru Baby is laughing and about to finish Gokuu off. The citizenry is cheering their leader on. Suddenly, Baby's body starts sparking, and the city takes some more damage. Baby's body is starting to suffer from the delayed effects of the Times 10 Kamehame-ha, although Baby denies that this is possible. Gokuu recovers a little, and they taunt each other some more before bashing away again. They KO each other and drop to the ground.
Dai Kaiou-shin takes some time to convince Kaiou-bit this is NOT the time to teleport Gokuu to safety. Dai Kaiou-shin wants Kaiou-bit to get the Chou-sui (Magic Water that supposedly was at the top of Karin Tower) and give it to Trunks and Gokuu's kids. Kaiou-bit has to explain to Suguro that the Chou-sui water is capable of cleansing the evil away from whatever it is splashed on. Kaiou-bit teleports out, then back -- he doesn't know where the Chou-sui water is. Dai Kaiou-shin yells that it is in Dende's palace.
Kaiou-bit teleports to the palace, evades Mr. Poppo (who is outside sweeping the floor), then enters a room where there are MANY jars of water. He can't find the real Chou-sui container, and is interrupted by Dende and Mr. Poppo (they accuse him of sneaking inside like a cat burglar). There is a water fight, and Kaiou-bit is losing. Finally, he throws the real Chou-sui water at Mr. Poppo, and it starts working (Poppo goes into spasms, and a red cloud of vapor leaves his body). Dende also gets some in the face. Eventually, both Dende and Mr. Poppo are healed. Kaiou-bit takes more of the water and teleports to Trunks. Neither Mr. Poppo nor Dende remember what happened during their possession by Baby, and they are confused as to what Kaiou-bit is up to.

[Commercial Break]

Kaiou-bit runs to Trunks, and gets him to drink the water -- red vapor leaves Trunks' body and he groans a lot. Finally, Trunks wakes up and wonders what Kaiou-bit is doing here. It starts raining on the two unconscious warriors (Baby and Gokuu). Trunks is told what has happened to Earth, and the Tsufuru-jin, and the two of them go to rescue the others. Bulma wakes up, sees Baby on the ground, and starts aiming her satellite on the big ape. Her rays hit him, and she calls out for Baby-sama to recover. Accidently, some of the concentrated Earth light hits Gokuu as well. Baby groans, commenting on the power he is receiving from Bulma's ray. Oozaru Baby gets up, praising Bulma. He powers up, and the shockwave prevents Trunks and Kaiou-bit from getting closer to the city. They drop the water bottle.
Gokuu is also ready to start fighting again, and they taunt each other some more. Suguro thinks that Gokuu has a chance, but Dai Kaiou-shin states that the Times 10 Kamehame-ha has drained Gokuu too much and that he will lose now. Gokuu also knows that he has no real power. Baby shouts out, and the air blast blows SSJ4 Gokuu away. But, Gokuu keeps bluffing. Baby stomps forward as Gokuu braces for the worst. Pan and Satan watch on in fear, and Bulma gloats some more. Gohan is being given some of the water.

Episode #38
(Aired 02/19/97)

Minna no powaa de... Suupaa saiya-jin 4 fukkatsu
From Everyone's Power... The Revival of Super Saiya-jin 4

Baby is at full power, and Gokuu is nearly at zero. Baby calls Gokuu's bluff, and beats him up (he shoots many fireballs from his mouth.) Baby knows Gokuu's limits now, and is having fun bashing him into the ground. Pan wants to save her father, and Satan fails to hold her back. Gokuu expects to die now, but Pan gets between him and the giant monkey. She tries to reason with Oozaru Vejiita-Baby, to try to get all of the people, and all of Earth, restored to the way they were before. To no effect. To distract Baby away from Pan, Gokuu tries to threaten the ape with Kamehame-ha again. This doesn't work and Baby gets ready to stomp on Pan. However, Baby gets smashed in the head by an energy blast. Trunks is now floating nearby, and it is clear that he's been cleansed of Baby's influence. Trunks attacks, and Vejiita-Baby counters by pointing out that Trunks is currently bashing up his own father. Trunks pauses, and gets punted away. He's caught by Gohan and Goten.
Gokuu sees Kaiou-bit, and realizes that Kaiou-bit must have used the Chou-sui or something. Goten and Trunks want to Fuse into Gotenks, but Gokuu tells them that even Gotenks' great powers aren't enough to stop Baby. Baby, meanwhile, is preparing to attack them all.
Gokuu explains that if he is brought back to full power in his current SSJ4 form, using the energy from his sons and Trunks, he can not lose. Pan agrees and also wants to donate her energy. However, Baby has been listening in, and he decides to prevent Gokuu's recovery by getting in the first blow.

[Commercial Break]

Gokuu is flown to safety, with Baby blasting away closely behind. Gokuu uses Tenshin-han's "Blinding Light" attack. Baby trips and falls into a deep pit. Trunks, Gohan and Goten get into a circle around Gokuu and try to power up. Baby recovers and tries to use Vejiita's standard energy blast on them. But, Baby is seized by stomach spasms -- Baby has a flashback to his battle with Uubu. He realizes now that Uubu had allowed himself to be eaten, and is now causing Baby a severe tummy ache. Baby fights back by trying to tighten his stomach. Uubu yells out for Gokuu to regain his full power level. Trunks, Pan, Gohan, and Goten get into a circle and donate their energy to Gokuu. Satan worries for Pan, saying that she is not a "super"-whatever. Kaiou-bit assures Satan that Pan will be fine.
Baby squeezes harder, and contracts down on Uubu. There's lots of lightning around the circle, and Gokuu is getting better quickly. Uubu gets spit out onto the ground, and Baby is about to use Vejiita's attack again. Vejiita-Baby yells out "Super Jankyuu Four", and fires away. The donators are just short of getting Gokuu to full power, and they stay in the circle until the blast hits them.
Baby is convinced that he has killed all five humans, and madly plans to take over the galaxy. The bodies of Goten, Trunks, and Gohan are scattered limply in the sand when the smoke clears. Satan rushes forward, and cries as he realizes that his granddaughter has been vaporized. Satan threatens Baby, and Gokuu tells him to calm down. The last of the smoke clears from the sky, revealing Gokuu. He is holding the unconscious Pan in his arms, and he is clearly at full power again.
Satan thanks Gokuu, and is told to get to safety. The others all recover consciousness and realize how much energy Gokuu has. Gokuu asks Baby what he'll do against him now, and Baby gets pissed. Gokuu and Vejiita-Baby both power up and blast away at each other. The ground gets chewed up some more. In the next lull, Gokuu is looking very confident.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: Normally, I don't give away the next episode's title in advance like this. However, there's some speculation that DBGT will be ending soon. While there is no direct proof of this in Newtype or V-Jump magazines, the end may not be that far away.

Next week's episode title is NOT the one given in Newtype. And, the preview for next week's show has Baby, no longer a were-monkey, trying to escape planet Plant in a spaceship. The ship is being pushed into the sun by Gokuu's Kamehame-ha, while Pan is begging Gokuu to stop and not kill Vejiita.

Next week:

Episode #39
(Aired 02/26/97)

Kore de Saigo da! Tsui ni bebii shoumetsu
This is How it Ends! At Last, Baby's Extinction

There is more of an explosion from both fighters as the rest of the world looks on gape-jawed. Gokuu and Baby face off as the smoke clears, and both of them claim to be able to defeat the other. In anticipation of a good fight, they go into a running attack, throwing energy balls at each other. They work up a sweat and take a breather, allowing Gohan, Trunks, and Goten to speculate that Gokuu has taken serious damage. Pan objects to this, believing that Gokuu can not lose this one.
On Dai Kaiou-shin's planet, the old coot is watching the contest on his crystal ball. Kaiou-bit teleports in and asks how it's going. Dai Kaiou-shin roughs up Kaiou-bit and gets the younger Kaiou-shin to root blindly for Gokuu. Kaiou-bit says that he's got the Chou-sui water, and they start planning on how to use it on the infected Earthlings.
Baby is showing signs of wear, and Gokuu taunts him for tiring so quickly, and threatening to become boring. Baby takes the bait and fires off a major energy ball. It misses, and Gokuu makes fun of the ape. Baby goes full out, launching a series of cutting disks. Which also miss. Gokuu likes Baby's attempt, and just stands in place as Baby ends up making a large lake of molten lava.
Gokuu loses track of Baby in the steam, and the golden Oozaru takes the opportunity to create a massive Revenge Death Ball -- it's his ultimate one-shot, and he launches it at SSJ4 Gokuu. Baby is happy with his RDB, and Gokuu struggles to keep it from plowing over him. Pan has to be restrained from running up to help her grandfather. The ball crushes forward, pushing Gokuu deep into a cliff side. Baby hopes for the best (Gokuu's death), while Gokuu uses thoughts of his children as the reason to keep fighting to the very end. He bulks up some more, and absorbs the energy from the Revenge Death Ball; it turns into a tornado and dissapates.
Gokuu tells Baby that Baby can't win that way, and he powers up in preparation to firing Kamehame-ha.

[Commercial Break]

Baby seems to have forgotten how to use Kamehame-ha to enter an enemy's body. He gets hit by the blast and goes flying into the air. He lands where Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Pan, Uubu, and Satan are hiding. They scatter, then return to look at the motionless were-monkey embedded in the ground. Pan asks if he's dead, and Gohan says no, he can still hear a heartbeat. Gokuu floats up, smiling happily at his foe. Pan cheers him on to kill Baby, and is reminded that Vejiita will die also. Pan forgot about that, but Trunks says it's ok -- if Baby dies, countless innocent lives will be saved in the long run.
Gokuu thinks a bit, then fires a blast into Baby's back. Trunks yells and turns away. When the light fades, we see that Gokuu has completely blown off Baby's tail. The monkey screams as he reverts back to Vejiita-Baby's earlier form. Baby tries to figure out what's happening, and concludes that he can't remain an oozaru without the tail. He doesn't need Vejiita's body anymore, and oozes out to the ground. Satan chases the silvery bouncing ball, until it stops and Baby takes on his true shape again. Satan starts apologizing, and the 4 Saiya-jin halfbreeds encircle him. Baby emits a bright light and escapes. Pan tells this to her granddad, and Gokuu reminds them of Vejiita. Trunks comforts his battered father, and Vejiita and Gokuu trade knowing smiles.
Baby flies to where Bulma is waiting with a big green space ship. She offers to give her master all of the energy from the Tsufuru-jin so that he can resume fighting. However, Baby bats her away and flies off in the ship (Bulma keeps calling "Baby-sama".) Pan is afraid that the monster will escape, but Gokuu is just biding his time until the ship is in line with the sun. He fires off Kamehame-ha. Baby senses the great "ki" from the Super Saiya-jin before disintegrating into a machine-parts filled vapor.
Gokuu can't feel Baby's ki anymore, and Pan rejoices at her granddad's victory. Later, at Dende's palace, Pan is complaining that after reverting from SSJ4 form, Gokuu is once again a small child. She remembers him as a Super Saiya-jin 4, and the boy says that he can now go SSJ4 on command. Pan wants him to do that for her at parties. Kaiou-bit hands over a Chou-sui flask, and it is poured down on Earth as a light rain.
Turns out that "Baby" City wasn't destroyed by Baby after all (either that, or it was secretly restored again.) Kuririn, Maron, and #18 return to normal very quickly and wonder what is going on. Gohan and Kaiou-bit go to Plant and give sips of water to the Tsufuru-jin there. Videl and Bulma stand around in wonder. Gokuu is thinking that everything is ok now, as the Earth starts to break up.
Gokuu argues with Dende -- this isn't supposed to happen because he'd brought back the Dragon Balls within one year like he was supposed to do. Dende falls to his knees and apologizes for having given the Balls to Baby to use. Pan does a quick calculation, and discovers that even if they get the Balls again, it will be two weeks too late to restore the Earth.

Episode #40
(Aired 03/05/97)

Chikyuu Bakuhatsu! Pikkoro no Juudaina Ketsui
Earth Explodes!! Piccolo's Serious Determination

(Just a quick note.)
It seems that there is now a "missing episode" for DBGT. Both Newtype Magazine, and the Toei Studios web site list a different episode for number 39. Apparently, episode 39 was slated to be:
Kutabare Bebii! Konjyou no Ichigeki
Shit on Baby! A Spirited One-Punch Attack

Then, things get interesting. Newtype lists episode 40 as:
Everyone Escape!! 5 Seconds Before Earth Explodes

However, the Toei web site gives a preview for the next 2 week's shows. According to the web site, episode 40 was to be:
This is How It Ends! Finally, Baby's Extinction

Which of course is the episode that actually aired last week. This implies that Toei actually created artwork for "Kutabare Bebii", but had pulled that episode for some reason.
What makes things more interesting is that the real episode 40 doesn't have the same name that Newtype lists as being episode 40. Unfortunately, the Toei Studios page doesn't have the preview for episode 41 posted -- that would have made things much more tantalizing. I'm wondering too whether Toei will correct the episode numbering on their page next week, or if they'll perpetuate it.

And now, the summary for the real episode 40.

Dende's Dragon Balls can not be used for two more weeks. The heroes recap the problem, and watch as the Earth starts to slowly fall apart. Vejiita is angry that Baby had used his body without permission, and the group (Gokuu, Vejiita, Pan, Trunks, and Mr. Satan) go to Capsule Corp. to use the spaceship to try to track down the Balls again. Bulma, Gohan, and Chichi interrupt them, thinking that they're just running off to play without explaining themselves first. The heroes state that Earth is going to self-destruct soon, which comes as a shock to Bulma, Chichi, and Gohan.
Vejiita suggests that they try moving everyone to planet Plant, but no one would want to leave the Earth. Eventually, they realize that Satan is in the ship with them, and he's the only one that can help right now. Soon, Satan is announcing to the world that the Earth is going to explode soon, but the reluctant humans don't believe even Satan; until the next big earthquake. Suddenly, everyone is more willing to listen. Satan states that there are certain people that will be wearing "Mr. Satan" buttons. The humans are to look for these people as their way to get off Earth and onto planet Plant. (Vejiita refuses to wear his button.)
Gokuu has gone SSJ4, and can teleport again. Large lines form, as people touch shoulders with each other; whole stadiums of people get teleported this way by Gokuu and Kiou-bit. Meanwhile, whole fleets of spaceships take off. We get to see EVERYONE that has ever appeared in the TV series and movies. (Pilaf, Tenshinhan and Chau-zu, the Money family, the old dog that was mayor when Daimaoh Piccolo terrorized the Earth.)
One group of punks want to stay on Earth and play video games. Goten can't get them to agree to go, so Vejiita zips in and KO's all of them.

[Commercial Break]

Earth is nearly abandoned, and the quakes are getting worse. The heroes struggle to gets all of the animals aboard a CC ship. Some dinosaurs won't fit, so Gokuu has to teleport them himself. A news crew is sticking around until the last moment, and they run to the CC ship in a panic. There are a few people left on Earth that haven't gotten on the ship -- Gokuu senses their ki's, and teleports out to save them (a drunk, a shipwrecked couple, and a meditating hermit). Gokuu brings them back to the ship. A farm couple had been struggling to save all of their animals, and they finally succeed. But, they forgot about their son and pet dog. The ship takes off.
The boy and his dog almost get killed as they fall into a chasm when the Earth gives its final heaves. They are saved by Piccolo. Gokuu zips in, takes the boy and dog, and tries to teleport back to the ship. However, the SSJ4 wears off, and Gokuu turns into a boy again. He can't teleport as a child.
Piccolo replies "You are Son Gokuu. There is NOTHING that you can not do." Piccolo zaps Gokuu, giving him the ability to teleport even when he is a child. He teleports to the ship. But, he realizes that the demon is still back in the molten core of the Earth. The ship lands on Plant, and Piccolo contacts Gohan. The Namek says that Gohan has grown up to be a fine, strong man, with a very fine Kamehame-ha. He also says that he is going to die when the Earth explodes, so that the Ultimate Dragon Balls (Black Star Balls) can never be used again.
Gohan-Baby's Kamehame-ha didn't actually kill Piccolo, but it came very close. The Namek still has a severe oozing hole in his stomach. Finally, the Earth blows up and Piccolo dies. Gohan cries.
Later, the Namek Dragon Balls are used to restore the Earth, and all of the people return there from Plant. Trunks is back at his job as president of Capsule Corp. Gill has been fixed, and is glad to be with Pan again. Gokuu is still a child, and Piccolo is still dead. But otherwise, the world is back to normal, and Dende's Dragon Balls are back to normal too.
------------------------------------------
NOTE: In many ways, this is not one of the best episodes made. There's lots of plot holes, and the ending is very rushed. But, there are some redeeming features (the scene in the core of the Earth with Piccolo is very good.) Fortunately, it's not the last episode in the series either. This gives the story writers another chance to create a better ending.
